Hi, I’m Gemma – a reliable, trustworthy, and animal-loving professional based in Huddersfield. After proudly serving nearly 22 years with West Yorkshire Police, most recently as a detective, I made the life-changing decision in March 2025 to follow my true passion: worki

ng with animals. While leaving the security of a long-standing career was daunting, I haven’t looked back. My love for animals has been a constant throughout my life, and I’m now living my dream as a dedicated dog walker and pet care provider. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and well-being are my top priorities. I offer meet and greets to ensure both you and your furry friend feel comfortable before we start any services. Every animal in my care is treated as if they were my own—with love, attention, and plenty of fun! I hold a current Level 3 Canine First Aid (iPet) certificate and a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Care, which I completed after leaving secondary school—proof that my passion for animals has been with me from the very beginning. I also have a clear DBS certificate and hold full business insurance, giving you complete peace of mind. Outside of pet care, I volunteer with the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team in Marsden. This role allows me to continue helping people in need, often in collaboration with emergency services across rural West Yorkshire. 🐾☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING FOR DOGGIES ☀️🐾

As temperatures rise across the UK, please remember that hot weather can be extremely dangerous for dogs (and most animals).
Even a short walk in the heat can lead to serious illness or heatstroke. 🌡️🐶

🚫 Avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day (usually 11am–4pm).

✅ Opt for early morning or late evening walks instead.

🔥 Did you know?
If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!
Try the test:
Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5-7 seconds. If it’s uncomfortable for you, it’s unsafe for your dog.

🐕 Tips to keep your dog safe in hot weather:
• Always provide fresh, cool water
• Walk in shaded areas where possible
• Keep walks shorter and slower
• Use cooling mats, damp towels (underneath, not on top), or paddling pools at home
• Never leave dogs in cars — even for a few minutes
• Watch flat-faced breeds, puppies, older dogs, and overweight dogs extra carefully

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke in dogs:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion or wobbling
• Collapse or seizures

🚑 If you suspect heatstroke:
1️⃣ Move your dog somewhere cool immediately
2️⃣ Offer small amounts of cool water
3️⃣ Pour cool (not ice-cold) water over their body, especially paws, belly, and neck
4️⃣ Use wet towels or a fan to help cooling
5️⃣ Contact your vet straight away — heatstroke is an emergency

Take care of you and your fur baby in the heat. No walk is worth risking their health & life. 🐾 💙 🩵 🐾
