Egg-citing News!!

I am expecting my one and only baby in September 2026! This will mean I will be taking some time off for maternity leave.

Katie and Lydia have kindly offered to groom your dogs from the salon still.
You will be able to book in as usual as they will both have access to the works phone and booking system.
Katie will be covering Tuesdays and Wednesdays alongside her own clients
Lydia will be covering Fridays, if you need another day Lydia has her own salon in Milnsbridge so you can arrange directly with her.

Obviously grooming times will vary from normal as we all work at different paces. Please be kind to them. Any abuse will Not be tolerated, If this is the case it may result in you being struck off of Dashing Dog Grooming’s books completely.

I am planning to begin maternity leave mid-August but babies have their own timetable so we will see where we are. I will be back as soon as I am able, please respect my space and I will not be rushing back.

Negativity can be kept to yourselves I have tried to plan ahead for all my clients. I have been juggling working and building a new body flat out since Christmas so cut me some slack. I'm only 1 person making another person while running a busy salon.

Thank you all for your support and I will endeavour to carry on as long as I am physically able.

More than just a hair cut

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.

Keep your dogs safe

As the British weather is starting to warm up, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with what temperatures are safe for your dog☀️🐶

Every year our vets treat hundreds of heat stroke cases and, heartbreakingly, some end in tragedy. Many are unfortunately a result of owners not knowing the dangers of exercising their dogs in temperatures too hot for them to handle.

Heat-related illnesses are almost always preventable. DONT TAKE THE RISK and make sure your pet isn’t overheating in the sun.

If you think your dog may be suffering from heat stroke, contact your vet immediately or, if out-of-hours, find your nearest emergency vet.
Remember, Get them WET and get them to the Vet!

Please keep your pets away from the plants

⚠ While we admire the joyous beauty the daffodil brings to our gardens, Pet owners must be aware that daffodils are toxic to both dogs and cats. ⚠

The most dangerous parts of daffodils are the bulbs. Daffodil (narcissus) poisoning occurs from ingesting any part of the bulb, flower, leaves or stem, or from drinking the water from a vase.

If you think your pet has ingested any part of the daffodil or bulb, please contact your vet immediately for advice; DON’T wait for the symptoms to show.
The sooner your pet is treated, the better their chance of recovery.

Symptoms of Daffodil poisoning

⚠Drooling or slobbering
⚠Nausea or retching
⚠Sleepy or wobbly
⚠Vomiting
⚠Diarrhoea
⚠Rapid breathing
⚠Faster than normal heart rate
⚠Seizures
