☀️ Heat ☀️

Dealing with heat requires planning and changes in routine, we don’t get that many extremely hot days in the UK, but we do get plenty of prep time so there’s no excuse for not being ready

Old and young dogs can’t regulate their temperature as well, you need to be even more careful with them, older dogs often get dehydrated and confused also, so maybe use goats milk or bone broth to aid drinking plenty

Get up early and get them out, yes some dogs will benefit for simply staying at home altogether but some do need to do something in order to settle better through the day

I was out of the door with my squad at 6.45am, home for 9am having had a wonderful time and everyone (including me) is exercised and now post breakfast the dogs can relax by the fan while I do admin jobs 🙈

I don’t see any excuse for dogs being dragged out and about in the mid day heat, I hope not to see it but……I saw only 2 people out with their dogs while I was, which I was surprised about tbh

Have a great day everyone

This day in 2019 Blitzy and I did our BH exam which is the entry level obedience and temperament test for IGP, it was the start of a wonderful, difficult, challenging at times but epic journey 🥳🥳
We have gone on to do 12 IGP3s, 5 national trials, 2 international trials representing team GB and an FH1 and 2 tracking titles……she is truly a wonderful dog, she’s so honest for me 💖
We still have more to do, but I saw this in my memories and thought I’d share because I don’t think people always think about the “why” we title our dogs and what it truly means, or how much it takes 🤩

I loved my journey with Havoc, I’m loving it with Blitz as we still have more to do and I can’t wait to start with Frenzy when the time is right 🥳🥰

Whatever you’re working towards, on the tough days remember it’s absolutely worth it in the end 💪🏻💜

💜 “A title is a tribute to the dog that bears it” 💜

Let’s talk about Malinois, especially the younger ones……😈💥
My youngest dog is Frenzy, she is 11 months old and fire 🔥
It’s important for me to start by saying that I adore this dog, she’s everything I hoped for and definitely more 😎

But let me be realistic, she’s a lot 💪🏻 😂 now in many ways, for example settling in her crate, travelling in the van, handling and many other things she’s a very good girl and I genuinely couldn’t ask for better but in (probably) all young Malis there are things that are a little harder such as keeping still, social interactions (Frenzy wants to smash her human friends with forceful cuddles) and arousal in environments to name a few

Frenzy is bold and confident so environmentally she’s great, she does have a big need to move, at home and out and about that absolutely includes free time running and exploring not just training. She spends a lot of time being airborne as you can see in the photos 🤦🏻‍♀️

My role as her human is to fulfill her, she’s my dog and I made a commitment to her (as I do to all my dogs) that I’d give her the biggest life I can, and that’s what we do 🥳

My job is also to understand her, and to respect and appreciate her for who she is, what her genetics bring, and not what I think she should be, and that’s a fast, full on, very physical and smashy very happy dog 😍

I’m writing this because I know there will be people in the same place with their dog who might be struggling and finding it hard, and I want to put it out there that we all go through it 😂

This is however the place where connection can definitely be frayed or broken, because it can get tough, my accept and respect course is built for this time in your partnership 🤩

Yesterday’s obedience clinic was lots of fun, we did a group session on heelwork with lots of twists to think about and get the dogs thinking 💪🏻
We worked on play 🥳
We started work on the temperament testing part of the BH test 😎
And more besides 🤩
The dogs worked very hard, super excited about how they’re all coming on 💜

I also managed to take some pictures 🙋🏻‍♀️

We welcomed beautiful Nix and Cookie for their introduction to lost dog tracking today, they were both super smart and showed great promise 🥳
Some of our operational dogs came to meet everyone and assist with track laying, thank you Jenga, Diesel and Ozzy, and of course their handlers Jemma and Bianca 💜
