🐾 Meet Hagrid! 🐾

This very handsome Romanian rescue recently joined us for his Introduction to Mantrailing, and what a lovely session it was!

When Hagrid first arrived, he had plenty to say about the world around him. 😆 But one of the things I love about Mantrailing is watching dogs discover that they have a job to do.

Hagrid's first task was to find his human sister, and once he realised that using his nose was the key to success, everything started to click into place. 🧡

By his second trail, the barking had disappeared and been replaced by focused sniffing as he quietly worked his way along the trail in search of his missing person. 🐶👃

It's always wonderful to watch a dog grow in confidence over the course of a session, and Hagrid showed lots of promise for the future. We can't wait to see how his trailing journey develops! 🐾

🌳🐾 Saturday Afternoon in Wakefield 🐾🌳

Our Saturday afternoon session saw four teams take on a mixture of woodland trails, open ground, distractions, and problem-solving challenges, with plenty of great work on display throughout the afternoon! 👏

🐾 Odie continued to impress with some lovely problem-solving, showing nice negative indications and working well through distractions to stay focused on the task at hand.

🐾 Alci's trails were kept nice and simple to help rebuild her enthusiasm and confidence, and she absolutely loved finding her grandma! She worked particularly well through the woodland areas and confidently located a very well-hidden misper tucked away in a bush. 🌿

🐾 Bailey may have had a few months away from trailing, but he quickly got back into the swing of things. He showed some lovely hunting behaviours, worked his junctions well, and did a great job of refocusing when distractions appeared.

🐾 It was also a pleasure to welcome Romanian rescue Hagrid for his Introduction to Mantrailing! Hagrid started the session full of excitement, but it wasn't long before he discovered the joy of using his nose. By his second hunting trail he was fully engaged in the game, actively searching for his trail layer and showing lots of promise for the future. 🧡

☀️🐾 Saturday Morning in Wakefield 🐾☀️

We were joined by five teams for a lovely morning of trailing over in Wakefield, tackling a variety of challenges including contamination, crossroads, busy park areas, dog distractions, and plenty of opportunities to practise problem-solving and decision-making. 🧩🐶

🐾 Finnley worked through a particularly challenging first trail before finding his feet and producing a much more confident second trail in one of the busiest environments he's worked in so far.

🐾 Minnie put in two really impressive performances, showing great confidence on her trails and some brilliant decision-making around dog distractions.

🐾 It was lovely to welcome Enid and Kay to The Underdog Project. Having recently moved to the area, this was their first session with us and Enid settled in nicely, working steadily through her trails and showing some lovely trailing skills.

🐾 Archie continued his run of super work, producing two accurate and methodical trails with clear trailing behaviour throughout.

🐾 Lyla had plenty to think about on both trails, working through distractions and tricky decisions before producing some lovely work, particularly on her second trail. 🌟

A huge well done to all of our teams! 👏🐕🧡

🐾 Meet Hilda! 🐾

Hilda recently joined us for her Introduction to Mantrailing, and what a brilliant start she had!

This lovely Catahoula x Doberman has recently joined our friend Nick over at Minster K9s, where she's settling into life alongside her Catahoula sister, Nala. In a lovely full-circle moment, Nala actually completed her own introduction with me around three years ago! 🥹

Despite being completely new to the game, Hilda got stuck in straight away. Nose down, focused on the task, and clearly enjoying every second of it.

You can see her confidence growing throughout the session as she begins to understand the game, following her missing person's scent trail and enjoying the rewards that come with a successful find. 🥳

Hilda worked with a lovely balance of enthusiasm and accuracy, and we can't wait to see where her trailing journey takes her next!

All remaining spaces can be booked as either an Introduction or Progression slot.

A great Friday morning session with Nala, Hilda, Layla, Rogue and Willow 🐾🌿

What a stunning place to trail, and the weather was also on our side with some lovely sunshine throughout the morning ☀️

The teams had plenty of problem solving to do across the session, with some really thoughtful trailing from all of the dogs, who focused on working through old odour for their second trails!

A big welcome to Hilda, the Doberman x Catahoula, who recently joined Nick over at Minster K9s and came along for her introduction session! She picked up the game incredibly quickly, staying engaged, motivated and already showing some really nice accuracy!

Layla also achieved her final Ace of Trails number card 🃏👏 with a super impressive trail from her!

Some really nice work from Rogue, Willow and Nala too, who all tackled the conditions brilliantly.

Wednesday evening took us over to Wakefield for a brand new rural location, giving the teams plenty of opportunities to work through environmental distractions, old odour and some tricky junctions 🌿🐾

Maisey, Coco, Ruckus, Mary, Finn and Ilka all tackled the area brilliantly, with some really thoughtful problem solving and confidence-building throughout the evening.

We also had some more Ace of Trails cards earned 🃏👏 It’s always great seeing the teams progressing through the levels while continuing to strengthen those important foundations along the way.

Well done everyone 🐾

First tentbox adventure, all messages will be replied to on Tuesday! Hope everyone enjoys the bank holiday! 🐾

Tuesday evening saw Mouse join us for her mantrailing introduction… and she was absolutely incredible from the get go 🐾🖤...

Tuesday evening saw Mouse join us for her mantrailing introduction… and she was absolutely incredible from the get go 🐾🖤

Nose down from that very first cue of trail, she threw herself straight into the game and had the BEST time doing it! A complete natural… and she should be, believe it or not she’s a GWP x Cockapoo 😄

We were also joined by Rex, Amber, Scout and Nexo, with some really lovely work from all of the teams throughout the evening. Rex even celebrated his birthday… although he wasn’t overly impressed that there was no cake in his pots 🎂🤣

A brilliant session all round, and I cannot wait to see how Mouse progresses!

Mouse’s intro reel is coming tomorrow morning… watch this space 👀🐾
