Another introduction.

Some of the more eagle eyed have already spotted the photo bomb but we would like to introduce you to Sarah who is an integral part of our team.

Sarah has worked within the veterinary profession for over 20 years, gaining extensive experience across a wide range of clinical and academic settings. She qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2009 and has since completed an Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, an Emergency and Critical Care Certificate, and teaching qualifications.

Throughout her career, Sarah has worked in academia, referral hospitals, emergency clinics, and general practice, developing a broad and well-rounded clinical skill set. She is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine and is undertaking her clinical year and master’s thesis in preparation to qualify as a Veterinary Surgeon.

Sarah has a strong passion for improving animal welfare and public education. Her professional interests include internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and soft tissue surgery

We hope everyone will give a huge welcome to Sarah.

Meet Penelope.

Alpaca Head Space… a happy story 🦙
Back in February, Penelope was in big trouble, and I was able to visit her after other vets in the area were unfortunately unable to attend.
Penelope was showing lots of neurological signs: facial paralysis, loss of balance, eye damage, and difficulty swallowing. Following a lecture I attended a few years ago about alpacas, combined with my experience in sheep medicine, I treated Penelope for Listeriosis — a bacterial meningitis disease.
Here are the before and after pictures.
All credit goes to Penelope’s owners for seeking help promptly. Early intervention made such a difference, and I’m delighted that Penelope has made a wonderful recovery and is now enjoying a lovely Yorkshire springtime in good health.
I’m very interested in continuing to develop my alpaca skills, and I’ll soon be attending another conference alongside veterinary students so we can continue to upskill for the animals in our care.

What a week!

The response to our very first Facebook post has been completely overwhelming. We’ve had so many lovely comments, messages and reactions. ❤️

I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. I have been lucky to enjoy a long career as a vet in this area and I am so happy to be getting back to work with Howden Animal Health and meeting back up with clients and their pets, who have been such great friends in the past. I’m determined to provide the best possible service for them.

We’ve been incredibly busy replying to emails, answering telephone calls and sending out registration forms. If you’re still waiting to hear back from us, please bear with us. We promise we haven’t missed you — we’re working through everything as quickly as we can.

We’ve reached 797 followers on Facebook in just one week… which is absolutely crazy and far beyond anything we imagined.
Now imagine if we could hit 1,000 followers by the end of the week! 🤩 Please keep sharing our page, inviting your friends and helping us spread the word.

We’re excited to introduce a brand-new, independently owned veterinary practice, run by local professionals and covering Howden and the surrounding areas.

While we prepare to open our permanent premises, we’ll be offering a mobile service. You’ll be able to book scheduled visits in your area for routine care such as vaccinations, medication checks, and senior pet health checks. A timetable of set visit days will be shared very soon.

In addition, we’ll offer home visits (by appointment) for non-routine care.
We will also be providing routine surgical procedures, including neutering and dental treatments.

We’ll begin registering new clients from 5th May 2026, with appointments available from 1st June 2026.

Our website will be launching shortly, but in the meantime, please feel free to contact us via email for more information.

We look forward to meeting you and your pets soon.
