Scent work isn’t just for spaniels and labradors 🐾

I hear it all the time: “Oh, my dog’s too small for that” or “they’re not a working breed.” But every dog has a nose, and every dog was born to use it!

I’ve had chihuahuas, yorkies and dachshunds in my classes who absolutely light up the second they get a search. Tiny legs, big personalities… and noses that work just as hard as any gundog’s 😅

Everything is adapted to the dog in front of me, so no dog is too small, too big or too much.

We braved the wind Sunday morning on the condition that if it got worse we'd go home...

I can't tell you just how difficult the conditions made it for the dogs- all experienced - they really did work their socks off...

2 trails each and home! Before it got too bad..

Awesome work from everyone guys... windometers doing overtime and a walk on the Riverbank on the way home 🏡

We managed to get out trailing this weekend despite the weather...a bit chilly on Saturday morning but we beat both the wind and rain- just 😅

Lovely to see little Roxy and her mum back after a busy summer and everyone else of course 😀

Ever wondered how your dog knows you’re home before you’ve even got your key out? 🐾

It’s not magic, it’s teamwork between their ears and their nose! Their ears pick up your car pulling up or your footsteps on the path long before you’d ever notice, and they know your routine better than you do. Then once you’re at the door, that incredible nose takes over 👃

Dogs have up to 300 million scent receptors. We’ve got about 6 million, so we don’t really stand a chance!
Mine are exactly the same. Saffy and Otis are at the door doing the welcome party before I’ve even got out of the van
That nose is the most powerful thing your dog has, yet most dogs hardly ever get to use it properly. Scent work gives them a job their brain was built for, and you get a calmer, happier dog at the end of it 💛

Yesterday we started our session in gorgeous autumn 🌞 and ended it in the wind and 🌧️!

I was terrible at taking pictures yesterday, which is a real shame as the dogs were awesome in a busy Withernsea!

So many distractions and things going on! Real life real challenges 💖
