Monday morning was a cheeky little session at one of our favourite industrial estates. Some tracking/trailing and some mantrailing. All building confidence and skills along the way 💪

Sunday morning we had a tracking workshop.
Everyone learning how to lay tracks in theory and then trying to put it into practice on a stubble field 😂, read their dog and the dogs learning to build value in articles.

Lady was amazing - complex across the stubble limited articles - definitely the best she has ever been - a venue she enjoys too❤️

Niles pushing through long grass and surface changes, building article value and a bit of distance with a turn 💖

Finley his first ever attempt and true to form smashed it - this dog has taken to scent sports like a duck to water - nothing phases him and he picked it up so quickly 💖

Cracking private venue - last time we can use it until March now.

Saturday morning mantrailers took on the challenge of Oak road playing fields!

Niles pushing through the undergrowth, Freddie making us laugh as always, Billy having to take scent from a cake box, Captain having a really hard car start, Coco building her problem solving skills 👏👏👏 and amongst all that they also had sneaky scent pools dropped on the trails, lots of contamination, lots of people and dogs to deal with, novel articles, open ground and woodland - though not all at once😍

Wednesday morning mantrailers had fun in the long grass on off piste trails. Lots of problem solving to be done and overcome the reluctance of some to push through it!
Just not normal for some - they need a spaniel it's the norm😂

I'm very proud of being accredited with United Canine Scent Sports and The College of Scent dogs. Both stand for positive reinforcement training in dog led sports, both have fought hard jumping through many hoops to gain the accreditation -LANTRA for UCSS, C&G for CSD.

What does it mean for you?

I meet your dog where it's at in the moment, we work together as a team, encouragement and confidence building - never forced.

I have standards, I undergo lots of CPD with a variety of international trainers to ensure I keep up with the latest knowledge and science led techniques.

What does “accredited” actually mean?
There have been a few posts recently raising awareness around the word “accredited”, what it means and, perhaps more importantly, what it doesn’t mean.
And we agree it’s an important conversation.

The word accredited can be used in lots of different ways, and without knowing who the accreditation is with and what process sits behind it, it can potentially be misleading.
So we thought we’d explain what it means for UCS.

Two of our courses have now gained Lantra accreditation, and this isn’t simply a badge that gets added to a course.
The process takes months, with the course broken down in detail to show what we teach, how we teach it, how learning progresses, how learners are assessed and the timescales allocated to each part of the training.
Our course material, delivery and assessment processes go through external review, including scrutiny by industry experts and peers, alongside the quality assurance requirements expected by Lantra.

The specialist canine knowledge and training methodology remain ours. Lantra hasn’t written our courses for us, but we have chosen to put what we teach and how we teach it through an external accreditation and quality assurance process.
And gaining accreditation isn’t the end of that process. Standards have to continue to be maintained.
So we completely agree with the recent conversations saying that we should look beyond the word “accredited.”

Ask questions.
Who accredited it?
What was actually reviewed?
What standards did the course have to meet?
Is there ongoing quality assurance?

For UCS, we’re incredibly proud to be able to answer those questions. ❤️🐾

It started out very autumnal on Sunday morning heading to Thorne.

Saturday morning mantrailers were in Paull and it was lovely by the river😁

The 1940's weekend at Fort Paull Battery Heritage Site was in full swing with music, bangs and of course traffic in a usually quiet location, giving the dogs lots to work through, whilst doing a mixture of urban and woodland trails 😁

Great morning guys then off with Saffy to do some training at the event and pay my sponsorship fees😁

Today we've been trailing in Paull with clients and afterwards popped into the 1940's event being held at Fort Paull.

It's a great place for a spot of environmental training with all the different things going on, and great fun to explore too!

Practiced our indication around some of the stalls when the guns went off, worked on her settle at the bar whilst chatting to Nick and her loose lead walking while eating my ice cream and filming 😁

We're sponsoring a class in their dog show on Sunday 13/9/26.
