🐦 Fledgling season is here! 🐦

Have you spotted a young bird looking a little fluffy, scruffy, or clumsy?

Many fledglings leave the nest before they can fly confidently and spend a few days on the ground or in low shrubs while their parents continue to feed and watch over them.

Remember, not all baby birds on the ground need rescuing. In fact, a healthy fledgling is often exactly where it should be! If you are concerned, discreet observation for a short period of time will usually put your mind at ease, as parents will often return.

Rainy days don't just affect us, they can be challenging for our garden birds too 🌧️🐦

Wet weather can make it harder for birds to find reliable food sources, while they use extra energy to stay warm and dry. By keeping feeders stocked and well maintained, you can provide vital support when birds need it most.

🏡🌿 Before we called it home, wildlife called it theirs first.

The fields, hedgerows, trees, and wild spaces where new homes now stand were once places where hedgehogs wandered, birds nested, bees pollinated, and foxes raised their young.

As communities continue to grow and new homes are built, more natural habitats are disappearing. But that doesn’t mean wildlife no longer belongs here.

In fact, it means we have an even greater responsibility to share our spaces with the creatures that were here long before us. 💚

A wildlife-friendly garden doesn’t need to be perfect, just welcoming. A few native plants, a water source, a hedgehog highway, or simply leaving a corner a little wild can create a lifeline for nature.

Because home should be something we share.

Let’s take pride in creating gardens and communities where wildlife can still thrive alongside us, not just for today, but for future generations too. 🦔🦋🐝

These incredible insects are a true sign of summer, darting and shimmering in the sunshine as they hunt over the water.

You might even spot damselflies too, with their delicate bodies and colourful wings resting nearby 🌿

🐦🐝 Celebrate National Garden Wildlife Week 🦔🦋

This week is a wonderful reminder that even the smallest gardens, school spaces, balconies, and community green areas can become safe havens for UK wildlife. From hedgehogs and bees to butterflies and garden birds, our native species depend on healthy habitats to survive.

Engaging children with nature is one of the most powerful ways we can protect the future of wildlife. When young people explore ponds, build bug hotels, plant wildflowers, or simply spend time outdoors discovering the natural world, they develop a lifelong connection with nature, and a passion for protecting it.

Across the UK, habitats are disappearing and biodiversity is declining, but together we can make a difference “one simple thing” at a time. 🌱
