The extra ‘tool’ in my bridle fitting bag! Those of you who have had bridle fittings with me this summer will have seen the use of this. Great to see consistency of noseband fit across the equestrian fields and the acceptance by riders and trainers alike.

What a fabulous local show for all of us!! How lovely to catch up with clients and see so many beautiful Horses and ponies and their families who have been to us over the last few years for Bridles and bespoke work.

The workshop is absolutely buzzing with long awaited repairs and bespoke work, but I do my best to squeeze desperately needed repairs in when at all possible, Often overnight and into the early hours…

It’s getting extremely busy with orders and bridle fittings too so with this in mind I may have to close the book for a few weeks to catch up. Please remember that we will always try to help and bear with me if you’re waiting a little longer than usual 🙏

I realise I don’t post on here often enough! The reason being, I am very happy to say, I’m flat out busy producing bespoke pieces… and as always working hard on saddlery repairs and alterations alongside the bridle fitting!
Today however I’m out of the workshop, and whilst sat on a train I thought I’d share a recent Bespoke Bridle I produced for a teenie miniature Appaloosa called Bunty!! The owner contacted me a few months ago to enquire if I could make a tiny 3/8” bridle as she had been unable to find anything small enough, and she had a very special design in mind for her spotty youngster!
So we booked the yard visit to gather all the necessary measurements and discuss how she envisaged the Bridle to look, colour choices, etc. a second visit was made before the final piece was completed and just in time for her first show of the season.
What an absolute pleasure it has been to work with Tina and her 32” mini 🦄

We hope you’re all making the most of a lovely sunny day! 🌤️ Won’t it be lovely when the soggy, muddy fields dry up!! Speaking of which, let’s just go over a topic that’s currently being discussed on a Leathers workers’ FB group if I may…

DIRTY/MUDDY BOOTS & TACK 🫣

So the group discussion has been about clients bringing Dirty items to them for repair, which meant the saddler/cobbler can’t fulfil their request without first cleaning it, due to personal working conditions and inevitable damage to tools and machinery. So, what do you think, should we:
(1) ask the client to take them home and return with clean and supple pieces? ….or
(2) Advise that we will have to charge for the time and products used to clean it for them before we can attempt the repair?
