Meet Vicky who is a beautiful 3-year-old Border Collie with the sweetest nature. She can be a little nervous when meeting new people and new situations, but beneath that initial shyness is a lovely, gentle girl who is just waiting for someone to give her the chance she deserves. With a little patience and understanding, Vicky soon begins to relax and show her true personality – a playful, affectionate and happy dog who loves being part of the action.

Vicky absolutely adores other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion who can help show her the ropes and give her reassurance when she needs it. She is looking for a kind and understanding home that will allow her to settle at her own pace and continue to grow in confidence. Meet Evita and Clint who are a bonded pair of 4-year-old Great Danes looking for a very special home together. Clint is a happy, friendly giant who takes life in his stride, while Evita is a gentler soul who can be a little timid at first but soon shows her loving nature. She relies on Clint for reassurance, and their bond is so strong that they must be rehomed together. Both walk beautifully on the lead, enjoy human company and would thrive with someone experienced in giant breeds.

We know finding a home for two Great Danes won't be easy, but separating them is simply not an option. Evita needs Clint by her side, and together they deserve a peaceful home where they can finally feel safe and loved. If you have the space and experience for this wonderful pair, you'll be rewarded with twice the love, loyalty and companionship. πŸ’š

Over the next week, our main admin team member will be taking some well-earned time away, and we are also managing some staff absences across the rescue.

Applications, enquiries and general correspondence are still being processed, but responses may take a little longer than normal. As always, the welfare of the animals in our care and the day-to-day running of the rescue must remain our priority, so we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this period.

The best way to contact us is via email, and we will respond as soon as we are able. Please be assured that nobody is being ignored – we are simply working through everything as quickly as possible with reduced administrative capacity.

Normal service is expected to resume from Wednesday 24th June.

πŸ’š 😒 Meet Sally 😒 πŸ’š

Sally is another beautiful little soul who has recently joined us here at Greenacres Rescue.

At 13 years old, this lovely Cavalier King Charles Spaniel should be enjoying her golden years in comfort, but sadly she arrived with some significant health concerns. Sally has a very prominent heart murmur and is also in desperate need of dental treatment, with many of her teeth now rotten and causing discomfort.

The good news is that Sally’s journey is already heading in the right direction. She has been started on heart medication to help support her condition, and we will be working closely with our vets to ensure she receives the dental treatment she urgently needs.

Even better, we already have a fantastic breed-experienced placement lined up for Sally once her veterinary work is complete. Knowing that there is a loving home waiting for her at the end of this journey makes all the hard work worthwhile. ❀️

Dogs like Sally are exactly why rescue matters. Older dogs are so often overlooked, yet they have so much love left to give and deserve every chance to live their remaining years happy, comfortable and cherished.

πŸ’š 🐾 Caddi Update 🐾 πŸ’š

Sadly, this isn’t quite the update we had hoped to share, but thankfully Caddi still has options and a future ahead of her. ❀️

Caddi was admitted for surgery yesterday with the plan of being neutered and having her mammary mass removed. As part of the pre-operative investigations, chest X-rays were taken, as mammary tumours can sometimes spread to the lungs. There were a few small areas of concern visible, although these could just as easily be age-related changes rather than anything sinister. At this stage, we simply don’t know for certain.

When surgery began, Caddi unfortunately started to bleed profusely. Our experienced veterinary team made the difficult but sensible decision to stop the procedure rather than put her at unnecessary risk. While it wasn’t the outcome any of us wanted, we are incredibly grateful that her welfare was placed first. 🩺❀️

For now, Caddi is back with us and has been started on medication. The plan is to allow her body some time to recover and reassess her condition in 7–10 days before making decisions about a second attempt at surgery.

The wonderful veterinary nurses also made Caddi what they affectionately called a β€œboulder holder” 🀣 to help support her large lump until surgery can hopefully go ahead. Trust Caddi to return home with her own bespoke piece of veterinary fashion!
