ā¤ļø When I look at Amelie, Kamos and Grace… I don’t just see them as part of my amazing team. I have watched these guys grow up and I am so privileged to watch them turn into the inspiring adults they are now.

Amelie is studying Animal Care at Plumpton College and off to Africa n safari in a few days, Grace is studying Zoology at Sussex University and impressing her teachers (no surprises there).

I met both Amelie and Grace when they were 5 (separately) They both joined my club, I took animals to their birthday, they volunteered here and now they work here. What a journey… And they are just two of several children who have shared this Animal School journey with me. It’s once of the best things about my life. And Kamos is well, what can I say. That cat is my world. 🐈 šŸŒ

Flesh fly! Certainly not a creature you want landing in your food… but I’m just chilling in the meadow and as I’m hanging out in his space I thought I’d show you his face. 🪰

Blossom has a very chilled pace of life.

Ox eye daisy! 🌼 such a lovely flower to see but once again it’s often spotted on the side of roads. It’s the ultimate landing pad for insects. Where do you see your ox eye daisies? Do you love or hate them?

Introducing Oscar the yellow thighed caique parrot. 🦜 He’s such a star with the students so it’s about time I introduce him to you. (Just so you know this video was filmed a few months ago… I would not wear a fleece in this heat!) Happy weekend everyone.

In the heat of the day I am dealing with the repercussions of Blossom’s viral video.

Right now we are in the middle of a heatwave 🄵 and I am focused on looking after my animals. This means I can’t get my head round filming an entire care video today but the message is please, don’t try and keep a wallaby in a normal flat or garden. Don’t keep a wallaby on its own without others. Dont try and buy any animal impulsively without knowledge but definitely don’t try and buy exotic animals this way.

Ordinarily wallabies are not friendly animals to humans and Blossom only behaves the way she does because she was hand reared in exceptional circumstances. She is friendly to me but it is always on her terms and even though she loves me I have also been scratched, kicked and bitten by her as part of learning what those moods are.

Thanks to everyone who has said she is magical, she truly is and this is why I shared her. I am happy to keep sharing her but not if I’m going to get a stream of messages of people thinking she’s going to sit like a PokĆ©mon on her bed and cuddle like a teddy bear.

Blossom is loving all this summer grass even if she does have to share it with her friends.

Lily is one of our fabulous tutors show here holding Hercules the gecko. Not only is she brilliant with the animals, qualified in Animal Care but she is also a fantastic artist. Check out her pet portraits at .art Lily is also another Smashing Pumpkins fan (hence the soundtrack). Here at Animal School we also teach lessons on how to draw animals, combining two or our favourite things nature and art. ā¤ļø .

One of our students chilling with Bruce the Royal Python. It is so lovely to see how handling animals helps children. The snakes are great ambassadors, such gentle creatures, despite their (mis) reputation and Bruce has been making friends with humans of all ages for the last decade!
