🐾☀️ Due to the hot weather we have extended our opening hours to help keep your dogs exercised but safe and cool. There is also water available on site. You can now book 6am to 9pm.

Cullen Family Farming Dog Exercise Field is a secure 5 acre field with specialist 6ft high dog fencing. Surrounded by beautiful views of Ramsey, it is the perfect place to let your dog off the lead and run free. We also have drinking and washing water on-site for your dog to enjoy during their visit...

We planted our Cullen Family Farming PYO pumpkin patch in May. Thankfully, we timed it right with the rain and now are pumpkins are flourishing. Lots of choice and variety ready for picking in October.

Concerned about the weather? Never fear! ☀️

As ever in farming, we cannot predict the weather, but we know the heat may be a worry for you on Show day. We've done as much as possible to make it safe for everyone to attend and have a brilliant day out!

We have fresh drinking water available at multiple points around the showground for you to refill bottles and dog bowls (please bring your own), and there will be lots of shade under trees, with seating around the display rings and in the food courts.

Today we welcomed students from Colchester 6th form college to Cullen Family Farming. Farmer Alex and Agronomist Vicki Brooks spoke to the students about biodiversity on the farm and the science behind ensuring we have healthy soil for sustainable farming. Students carried out different soil testing to practically see the impact that current environmental schemes are having on the land.

Have you seen some of this growing locally? 🪻🌾

No, it's NOT lavender! From a distance, it could be mistaken for it, but it's actually called Phacelia, or 'Bee's Friend'.

Farmers grow this to aid the health of the soil between crops and manage nutrients. It's sometimes grown as part of one of the government's Sustainable Farming Incentives which requires a legume fallow to grow and flower from late spring and during the summer months, and provide green cover over the winter months.
