Impact Update: Preventing Pet Relinquishment in Action 🐶 🐾

In 2020, we awarded K9 Focus, £13,975 to support the creation of two dog exercise areas. Here's how that funding is still making a difference today:

Lynne Hall, Trustee, shares:
“Sadly, our onsite kennels closed during 2024, but the compounds and exercise areas are still being used to assess dogs that are being surrendered, together with meet and greet meetings for potential adopters. The exercise areas are also used to undertake behavioural training for owners who are on the brink of surrendering due to behavioural issues, in the hope of preventing surrender. To date in 2025 alone, we have been able to offer help to 3 owners and prevented their dogs from being surrendered. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Pets Foundation, thank you!”

This is why we do what we do, and you're donations make grants like this possible 🙏💚

Happy 🐈 🐾

Did you know that around 80% of ginger cats are male? That’s because the gene responsible for orange fur lives on the X chromosome. Male cats only need one X to rock that fiery coat, while females need two copies of the gene, one from each parent, to join the ginger club!

Got one of these fabulous felines at home?

Drop a pic of your orange superstar in the comments—we’re ready to swoon! 📸 😻👇

It aims to support animal rescues by helping people keep their beloved pets at home and out of rescue. Funding is available for projects such as emergency fostering, affordable vet care, and pet food banks.

All proposals must be well-researched and supported by relevant evidence. If your organisation aligns with our mission, visit our website for full details on the criteria and application process ⬇️

With the help of our £7,500 grant towards veterinary bills, Cats In Distress has supported 94 cats with essential vet care, including 29 neuterings and 46 vaccinations.

Meet Nimbus 😻 His previous owner felt he was too aggressive around other cats, but once in the rescue's care, it was clear he was simply nervous. After dental treatment and some TLC, he blossomed into a gentle, affectionate boy and has now found his forever home.

And Blue 😻, who came to the charity after his owner passed away, needed some routine vaccinations. He's since found the perfect match in a loving couple who heard their "Make A Difference" interview on BBC Radio Somerset. Blue chose them, and now he’s his new mum’s shadow, following her everywhere.

This grant didn’t just fund vital care, it gave second chances to these sweet kitties 🐱💕

Say hello to Kuma, the pup with a paws-itively unique walk 🐾💚

Found as a stray, Kuma was diagnosed with a dislocating kneecap and hyperextension, birth defects that give him a quirky stride but don’t stop him from enjoying life!

Thanks to our £2,252 grant towards veterinary bills, Friends of Akitas Trust - UK got him the x-rays and vet care he needed. Now he’s ready to leap (gently!) into a loving forever home 🏡

Just look at him soaking up the sunshine, wonky legs, wagging tail, and all!

Two fearless colleagues are taking the plunge tomorrow—skydiving for pets in need 🪂🐾

They’re soaring with North London Skydiving Centre to raise vital funds for our Foundation, supporting animals across the UK with the care, shelter, and love they deserve while they wait for their forever homes.

Every penny raised helps rescue centres, funds vet care, and powers rehoming efforts, so when they go up, pets get a lift too! 💚

It’s Black Cat Appreciation Day, and we’re sharing a little-known fact that might surprise you!

☀️ Did you know that some black cats can “rust” in the sun?

Their fur may turn a reddish-brown shade due to a pigment called pheomelanin, the same one found in red hair!

Whether jet black or sun-kissed auburn, black cats deserve all the love today. Share a photo of your feline friend 😻🐾
