One of our training days from last weekend saw the return of Angus and his Korthals Griffon 'Reg' for some continuous development training.
It's early days for this team but they are already showing great promise and are keeping in touch for forward mentoring.

It's great when you're walking the boundary at first light with the dogs, you hear a shot close by on the neighbouring land and meet up with the new stalker next door who'd just taken the shot, and the pricket although hit hard had run over the boundary on to our land.
We had a meet and greet with some friendly banter and together took the dogs to follow up on his culled animal. Obvioulsy Jess was happy to be involved and after an exchange of contact numbers we went our seprate ways.
Deer stalking and dog work can often cause conflict between those involved but it always worth making the effort to help each other out and make new friendships. After all we are all like minded people and need to work together, espeically in these times we live in where our way of life is becoming more and more fragile.

Just a few highlights from this weekend's introductory training day. Amazing group of candidates and dogs, all showing great potential and with a little continuous training we have no doubt that they will go on to make great tracking teams.

We took time out this morning on a multi task mission.
1. Test the new Garmin Alpha LTE dog tracker.
2. Get Jess our Lakeland terrier used to stalking off leash.
3. Now that they're in season cull some Roe does.
Result being that we managed 2 out of the 3 as typically no does offered a safe shot on this occasion, just an opportunity to study a curious Roe buck.

It's not often we give a shout out to various companies and businesses that we deal deal with but this one deserves a really loud shout. As many of you may be aware we run a pretty old Mazda truck that just does what it says on the tin and we are reluctant to change her.
