🚨 Heatwave Warning for Dog Owners 🐶☀️

When temperatures rise, dogs are at serious risk of heat exhaustion and burned paws. Here’s what to avoid during a heatwave:

❌ Walking during peak heat (usually 11am–6pm)
Hot pavement can burn paws in seconds. If you can’t hold your hand on the ground for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog.

❌ Leaving dogs in parked cars
Even with windows cracked, temperatures inside a car can become deadly within minutes.

❌ Over-exercising
Skip long walks, runs, or intense play. Dogs can overheat much faster than humans.

❌ Forgetting hydration
Always provide fresh, cool water — at home and on walks.

❌ Hot artificial grass or sand
These surfaces can become dangerously hot and cause burns.

❌ Ignoring signs of heatstroke
Watch for excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, lethargy, wobbling, or collapse. This is an emergency.

❌ Using muzzles that restrict panting
Dogs cool themselves by panting. Restrictive muzzles can increase overheating risk.

✅ What helps:
• Walk early morning or late evening
• Stick to shaded areas and grass
• Use cooling mats, damp towels, or paddling pools
• Keep indoor spaces ventilated and cool
• Never leave pets unattended in the heat
