There are many reasons why we always encourage you to check your trotting diagonals!

Why trotting on the correct diagonal is important for keeping a horse sound...

👉 It ensures the horse’s hind legs take an equal workload.

👉 It promotes suppleness through the horse’s back.

👉 It allows their muscles to develop evenly.

👉 It helps to keep your horse balanced when riding around corners.

👉 All of the above is especially key when training young or inexperienced horses.

👉 It’s easier for the horse’s inside hind leg to step through if the rider is out of the saddle...

👉 ...They will also be able to take a longer stride. (Remember that the hind legs create the energy and impulsion.)

👉 The previous point is particularly important when riding a circle or turn, because if the rider is sat in the saddle when the inside hind leg comes through it places additional strain on the horse's body.

So whether you're working in an arena, field, or going around bends and corners out hacking — it pays to make sure you're on the correct diagonal every time! 🐴

☀️Hot weather incoming (again!) ☀️
🔥The forecast from Wednesday onwards is looking HOT
🔥 It may be necessary for us to make some changes to the schedule at short notice so please keep an eye on messages if you are booked in to ride.
🔥Should you decide now that you’d prefer to postpone your lesson rather than wait until the day, you can do this via Hopoti and get a Stablecard (credit) but it must be done within the 48-hr cancellation period
🐎The welfare of the horses always comes first and working in our arena which is exposed to the weather all day, with all their tack on is a big ask in hot weather.

The short and simple answer is NO

No, all your training and assessments are undertaken in the workplace, online and others your Training Consultant may visit you.

You may however get the opportunity to leave the work premises for off the job training to expand your skills. For example attending dog grooming shows, equestrian shows and other experiences.
