A polite reminder to everyone with dogs if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them too.
Today I’ve seen a big black lab being walked around Catteshall Lane, and now a retriever being walked on the pavements in Dunsfold. Both large dogs, one black and one with a very thick coat, in nearly 30-degree heat.
Please remember that hot pavements and high temperatures can be dangerous, especially for larger and heavier-coated dogs. Heatstroke can happen very quickly and can be fatal.
Try to walk them early in the morning or later in the evening, and stick to shaded woodland areas where possible not pavements in the middle of the day.
You may think “it’s only a bit of heat,” but it only takes one time for something to go badly wrong.
Please look after your dogs. 🐾
