☀️🐾 Warm Weather Advice 🐾☀️
With the warmer weather on the way, I’ve been getting lots of questions about clipping double-coated breeds such as Collies and Golden Retrievers ✂️
While it might seem like the best way to keep them cool, clipping these coats can actually do more harm than good and may damage the coat’s natural ability to regulate temperature.
The best way to help keep your dog comfortable in the heat is: 🐶 Regular brushing to remove loose fur
🐶 Professional de-shedding treatments
🐶 Keeping them well hydrated and avoiding peak heat times
A healthy, well-maintained coat acts as insulation—helping to keep your dog cool as well as warm 💙
If you’re unsure what’s best for your dog’s coat, feel free to drop me a message—I’m always happy to help!

***** Reminder *****
The new law for dog owners starts tomorrow 18th March (UK)
From Wednesday 18th March, updated laws on livestock worrying come into force in England and Wales.
Under the new rules, it is an offence if a dog chases, attacks, or causes distress to livestock. Importantly, the dog does not have to bite or injure the animal for it to count as livestock worrying.
Livestock includes animals such as:
• Sheep
• Cattle
• Goats
• Pigs
• Horses
• Poultry

Police will also have stronger powers to investigate incidents, including the ability to seize dogs involved in attacks.
Penalties can include unlimited fines and compensation for farmers if livestock are harmed.
In areas like Cornwall, where we have so many public footpaths pass through farmland, dog owners should ensure dogs are kept under close control and put on a lead where livestock are present.
This is simply to make people aware of the legal responsibilities when walking dogs near farm animals.
