We're ending Volunteers' Week with a chat with some of our Saturday afternoon team.
Maryam (13) said: "I like volunteering because it's fun to have new experiences, meet new people and step out of my comfort zone. It helps me learn and grow and is good to have on my CV."
Nerys (14) added: "I waited for years to be able to help the Farm that I have loved for so long!"
Scarlett (14) said: "The animals have changed my mental health for the better and the friends I've made have led the Farm to be my comfort place. I'm enjoying how the Farm has changed my life."
We are grateful for all our volunteers every week, not just this one!

Celebrating some of our fabulous volunteers!
Some have been around for years, and some are brand new! But all have a love for the Farm and the little community we have created here.
Thank you to all of you! 🥳❤️

As part of Volunteers' Week, 13 of us walked down to the Togetherness Permaculture Project at the Hartland Road allotments to lend them a hand.
We weeded, mowed, fought with bindweed, and tackled nettles alongside Kulchalee - who has promised a free workshop for families at the Farm over the summer holidays.
Kulcha and Leroy treated us to some amazing Jamaican food and we all had a great time, even with the downpours!

Celebrating Volunteers' Week 🥳

Ibraheem (20) has just returned to volunteering having taken time out for exams and exploring other options. He has a huge knowledge about nature and said: "I like helping people learn or understand things they might not know. When you see someone enjoying, and being interested in things you worked hard on, it give you a sense of satisfaction."

Ace (16) is home-schooled. He said: "Spending time outdoors with the animals has definitely improved my mental health and made me a more positive person.
"The experience will also help me pursue a career in something to do with animals. It get me out exercising rather than sitting at home!"

Teddy (17) is taking A Levels at Denmark Road School and is able to spend Monday afternoons volunteering.
She said: "I love making a difference in the community and interacting with the public, and also getting to know the animals!
"Mindfulness, away from school lessons, makes me feel connected and happier."

Thank you to all of our volunteers!

This week is Volunteers' Week - a chance to thank and celebrate all the amazing people we have volunteering here at the Farm.
Quite simply, they ARE the City Farm, it wouldn't run without them!
Our gang support each other, welcome new volunteers and are always a shoulder to cry on or sharing laughs. Thank you to everyone single one!
We'll highlight a few during the week so stay posted!
