Animal Care Assistant – Independent Veterinary Practice - Southside Veterinary Clinic

Position: Animal Care Assistant
Hours: Full-time / Part-time – to be confirmed
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Animal Care Assistant to join our friendly team at an independent veterinary practice in Giffnock, Glasgow.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about animal welfare and enjoys working as part of a close-knit veterinary team.
The Role
As an Animal Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the veterinary team and ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing hands-on care and comfort to hospitalised animals
• Cleaning and maintaining kennels, consult rooms and clinical areas
• Preparing patients for procedures and assisting the veterinary team where required
• Feeding, walking and monitoring patients
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control
• Supporting the reception and clinical teams when needed
• Handling animals safely and compassionately
• Helping to ensure the practice remains a calm, welcoming environment for pets and their owners
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
• Passionate about animals and their welfare
• Caring, patient and compassionate
• Reliable, organised and hardworking
• Comfortable handling dogs and cats
• Able to work effectively as part of a small team
• Calm and confident in a busy veterinary environment
• Willing to learn and develop their skills
Previous experience in a veterinary practice, animal care, kennel work or a similar environment would be advantageous, although enthusiasm, a strong work ethic and a genuine love of animals are just as important.
