🐾☀️☀️☀️🐾
Temperatures are expected to get very high this weekend so our pets need some extra care to stay safe in the sun

- provide plenty of shade and fresh water
- walk dogs at cooler times of day, always check the temperature of the tarmac with your hand first!
- very young, old, overweight or brachycephalic (flat faced) dogs are more susceptible to overheating
- excessive panting and changes in breathing are the most common signs of overheating
- the current advice is ‘wet then vet’ if you feel your dog is overheating. Move them to a cool area then immerse or hose in cold water ( use room temperature for older animals or those with health conditions)
If you have any concerns please call us on 0141 429 5333

Stay safe and have a lovely weekend!

Some of you may remember the tiny kittens who were born by caesarean section with us a few weeks ago.
This week we had the absolute pleasure of meeting them again for their first vaccinations and microchips, aren’t they absolutely gorgeous! We just wanted to cuddle them all day ❤️🐾

How adorable are these two ❤️
Maisie and Minnie came to visit us recently for their second vaccination and microchip and were so well behaved. Although microchipping is not yet a legal requirement in Scotland it is strongly advised particularly for cats who venture outdoors. Please contact the surgery if you would like more information or to book your cat in to be microchipped 🐾

🐾 Gingivitis in Dogs: What You Need to Know 🦷 🐶

Is your dog showing signs of discomfort when chewing? Gingivitis could be the cause! Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums, and it’s common in dogs, especially those who aren’t regularly brushing their teeth.

How to Notice Gingivitis: 🦷 Red, swollen, or bleeding gums 🦷 Bad breath (more than usual!) 🦷 Excessive drooling or difficulty eating 🦷 Tartar build-up on teeth 🦷 Pawing at their mouth

How to Prevent It: ✅ Regular brushing: Aim for at least 2-3 times a week with a pet-safe toothpaste. ✅ Dental chews: These can help remove plaque and keep teeth clean. ✅ Regular vet check-ups: Annual dental exams to catch early signs. ✅ Healthy diet: Feed high-quality food that supports oral health.

Remember, prevention is key! Early care can keep your dog’s smile bright and healthy. 😁🐾
