Behind the Scenes of Our Spring Sitter Shoot 🌸🐾

While the photos and videos might look polished, our sitter shoots are really just a wonderful excuse to get the team together. 💛
This spring, we gathered at Sarah’s for an afternoon of catching up, sharing stories from recent sits, cuddling cats, feeding chickens, and enjoying plenty of tea and strawberries in the sunshine. ☀️🍓

Of course, there were plenty of feline interruptions along the way (our favourite kind), and we managed to capture some lovely content to share with you over the coming months.

Here’s a little glimpse behind the scenes of the people who care for your cats when you’re away. 🐱✨

Meet Jacqui & Sophie ✨🐾

We're delighted to introduce our newest sitters, Jacqui and Sophie - a mother-daughter duo who bring a lifetime of animal experience to the Cambridge Cat Sitting team. 💛

For Jacqui, caring for animals has always been a way of life. Over the years she's looked after chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs and cats, and currently shares her home with two rescue cats. Her experience extends beyond her own pets too, including caring for two Siamese cats for four months while their owner was overseas.

Growing up in a home full of animals, Sophie naturally developed a love for pet care from an early age. She adores cats of all shapes and sizes, though she has a particular soft spot for Burmese cats, having previously owned two herself.

Together, Jacqui and Sophie bring calm, compassionate care and plenty of experience to every visit. Whether it's feeding, medication, playtime, cuddles or simply keeping routines consistent while you're away, your cats will be in safe hands.

Please join us in giving them a warm Cambridge Cat Sitting welcome! 🐱🐾

Feline Friday – Meet Syd ✨🐾

This week we’re introducing Syd — a wonderfully affectionate boy with a playful personality and a heart full of love.
From the moment he hears the door open, Syd is there to greet us with loud meows, head rubs and requests for cuddles.

Syd absolutely thrives on companionship and routine. Whether he’s following us into the kitchen for breakfast, curling up on a lap for affection, or gently giving little kisses during a cuddle, he always makes his feelings known in the sweetest way possible.

As the weather has finally turned warmer, Syd has been especially enjoying a little outdoor time in the garden, relaxing on the bench and soaking up the sunshine with plenty of cuddles al fresco. ☀️

He also has a wonderfully playful side and loves chasing his laser toy around the kitchen, hall and stairs, often racing around full of energy before settling down afterwards for chin scratches and a peaceful snooze on the sofa.

Caring for Syd shows how important affection, familiarity and one-to-one attention is for cats. By keeping his routine consistent and spending quality time together, we’re able to help him feel completely relaxed, happy and safe in his own home while his owners are away.

Summer cat care, made simple 🐾
As temperatures rise across Cambridge, Newmarket and the surrounding villages, a few small adjustments can make a big difference to your cat’s comfort - from staying hydrated to managing shedding and keeping on top of flea prevention.

Cats often need a little encouragement to drink more in warmer weather, while regular grooming helps keep coats light and reduces hairballs. Add in simple preventative care, and you’ve got a routine that supports them right through the season.

Want to make playtime even more exciting?
Try adding catnip. 🌿🐾

We’ve found that a little catnip spray on string toys can completely transform garden playtime - encouraging more focused play, natural hunting behaviours and keeping even the most distracted outdoor cats engaged for longer.

It’s a simple way to refresh old toys, create more purposeful enrichment and make play sessions feel new again.

We’ve recently found our favourite catnip spray and, after plenty of testing from our own cats (very serious research, of course), it’s now available in our online store. 💛

Perfect for garden explorers, playful kittens and cats who need a little extra encouragement to stay engaged.

Sarah’s secret to an enriching garden? Catmint. 🐾🌿

A simple addition that makes a big difference. Sarah plants catmint around the garden to create little moments of enrichment for Louis — giving him safe spaces to explore, sniff, roll and fully embrace his outdoor adventures.

It’s a great alternative to bringing enrichment indoors and encourages natural behaviours in a calm, familiar environment. Plus, watching cats discover it for the first time is always a joy. 💛

Remember enrichment doesn’t need to be complicated

🐾 Spring Must-Haves for Happy Cats 🌸

As the seasons shift across Cambridge, Newmarket and the surrounding villages, we often see cats becoming more active, curious and playful - which means their home setup matters more than ever.

A few simple updates can go a long way. Think enrichment toys to support natural hunting instincts, organic catnip for scent-led play, and wide silicon dishes to encourage better eating and hydration habits.

For comfort and rest, our washable rope beds are perfect for spring (especially with shedding and allergens), while breakaway collars with bells offer a safer option for cats who enjoy exploring outdoors.

These are the small, thoughtful pieces we see working time and time again in homes across central Cambridge, the villages and beyond - designed to support your cat’s routine as the season changes. 💛

🌿 Spring plant tips from Sarah

As we move into spring across Cambridge, Newmarket and the surrounding villages, Sarah is often having the same conversations with clients - ensuring that homes and gardens are safe for curious cats.

Some of the most popular seasonal plants, like lilies, daffodils and tulips, can be harmful if ingested. It’s something we’re always mindful of during visits, especially with cats who enjoy exploring both indoors and out.

A quick seasonal check of what’s within reach - whether in your home or garden - can help prevent unnecessary risk.

It’s not about removing everything, just making small, thoughtful adjustments that keep your cat safe while still enjoying the season. 💛

🐾 Why is your cat suddenly more active this spring?

We always notice the same shift at this time of year - cats becoming more curious, more playful, and a little more energetic. As the days get longer, natural instincts kick in. More daylight means more movement, more exploring, and more of those familiar “zoomies” around the house and garden.

For many cats, spring brings more time watching the outdoors, patrolling gardens, and engaging in play.
Supporting this seasonal change with simple enrichment - toys, short play sessions, and a consistent routine - helps keep your cat balanced and content. When routines stay steady, even as the season changes, cats feel at their most secure. 💛
