Etsy or website? Something I get asked all the time. And this isn't an Etsy bashing post. I have to be honest, Etsy has been great for my business over the years. It drives traffic, does all the SEO legwork for me, and I fully realize most of my sales have been down to them. But..

Increasing fees and charges, and a drop in traffic/sales over the last year or two, has hit me massively. Costs generally are rising, and Etsy costs are rising too, but seemingly we're getting less in return from Etsy..

My request is... If you've purchased from any seller on Etsy in the past, or any major selling platforms for that matter, and you feel comfortable moving away from them, please do consider using the business's own website, or even reach out directly, if you decide to place more orders. Simple as that. More of the order value goes to the creator instead of the huge companies and we would massively appreciate it ❤️

Below are two recent orders; the first is a recent domestic order on Etsy, showing the value which actually comes to me (obviously shipping will apply anywhere but you get the idea! 😜) I'm not at all complaining as a sale is a sale and is very welcome indeed, but for clarity, you can see how much the maker receives.

The second one is a shock - it's an international order (almost £17 for tracked large letter postage including tariffs!?! 🫣) £5 was tax deducted automatically, but the other almost £10 was taken by Etsy, and this order didn't even come from an Ad). Buyer paid £70, I received £38 😒
