Colas trial awards to date ❤️

08/10/2026

Ray has also been trying hard this week. She was very lively on her first novice trial of the season and I felt on edge following her hunting, hoping she would stay close and listen. Then a bird went up and was shot and she ran in before being told. She was on the edge of her hunting area on my left so tried her luck. I managed to stop her by shouting no but that put us out of that trial.

She had another go a couple days after and I felt much more comfortable hunting her, a long dry first run, then into the second run we were hunting bracken, I couldn't see her at all and had to watch the bracken move hoping she would stay close, she put up 3 birds, one was shot on front. I thought she had stopped but couldn't see her. Judge walked forward to see where the bird and dog were. He asked me to recall her, she decided to take the long way and flush a bird. He told me lead on once she came back. So that put us out again. On asking after the trial the judge on the other side said she ran in on the shot unfortunately.

So more training needed for her again.
