Saddle check season is every season - when weight and condition fluctuates, when work and competition patterns change.

Any change to the horse's typical routine can lead to a change in the fit of their saddle. Regular checks can help keep the perfect fit and balance for both horse and rider.

A little re-introduction to Helen Dunning 🧡

Helen may have taken up the reins to Childeric UK earlier this year, but she's been an integral part of the business since way back in 2013.

For Helen working with Childéric is the most rewarding and enjoyable job.

"I feel being able to combine my knowledge and feel as a rider with experience as a saddle fitter works brilliantly when I'm working with riders and therefore offers a unique service."

Helen has a long and glittering equestrian career that goes all the way back to starting out as a show rider with Team Hollings, where highlights included HOYS and The Royal International.

From there Helen made the switch to eventing, where she went on to represent Great Britain on numerous occasions, that included a 10th at the 2008 Junior European Championships held in Avenches, Switzerland.

Eventing success kept coming for Helen, first with Mossfort in the Young Rider National Championships, then with Pebbly Flux at the 2010 European Championships in Germany. From there Helen gained the ride on Keep Your Options Open and together they won the CCI***-S at Gatcombe, the CCI****-U25 Championship and the ProAM pairs with Caroline Powell at Bramham in 2011.

Helen later made the switch to pure dressage and has also competed successfully at Prix St George level, winning the Petplan Area Festival, and finishing 3rd at the National Championships.

Iconically Childeric...

The Childeric DPL Dressage Saddle is designed to create an exceptionally close connection between horse and rider while promoting greater freedom of movement through the horse's shoulder and back. Allowing the rider to feel every movement beneath them while maintaining excellent stability and support.

The very deep seat encourages the rider into a naturally balanced position by promoting subtle pelvic rotation, offering outstanding security without feeling restrictive. Unlike many deep-seated dressage saddles, the DPL provides exceptional support while still allowing the rider freedom to move with the horse.

The dressage saddle of choice of Irish Olympian and Mars Maryland 5* winner Austin O’Connor.

Continuing our Champions series - Ameila Goodear and Furioso VH Enkershof claimed the British Dressage Pony U21 Championships on the back of their success at the Pony European Championships and Hickstead CDI this Summer!!

Amelia chooses the Childeric DJO dressage saddle, a super close contact saddle that removes the bulk of the additional top flap and incorporated set back stirrup bars to support the leg position and a naturally balanced position.

"We really struggled to find saddles that fit him and I was comfortable in and Childeric Saddles came really highly recommended to us and I now really enjoy riding in my DJO" said Amelia.
