Tiny the giant Burmese python is getting moved into the office today and into one of our 8x4ft vivariums while we finish setting up the new 10x10ft enclosure.
People often see giant snakes online and think they’re easy to keep, but the reality is very different.
A snake of this size needs a huge amount of space, strong, secure housing, consistent heating and humidity, enrichment, regular cleaning, and careful handling. Even routine tasks like moving, cleaning, or health checks can require more than one person. Feeding, maintaining the enclosure, and covering the ongoing costs are all major commitments.
This 8x4ft viv is only a temporary setup while we complete Tiny’s permanent enclosure. Our goal is always to provide the highest standard of care, with an environment that allows natural behaviours and gives him the space a snake of his size deserves.
Owning a giant constrictor isn’t about having an impressive pet—it’s about accepting the responsibility that comes with caring for an incredible animal for decades. They aren’t a species to buy on impulse, and they certainly aren’t suitable for most homes.
