As we say goodbye to 2025, I just want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy New Year and send a heartfelt thank you for all the support, messages, and memories shared over the past year

This one’s especially close to the heart, as it’s the first new year without Carl 💔

Merry Christmas ⛄ 🎄

As we approach Christmas and the New Year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and reach out 🐾

This year has been an incredibly difficult one. Carl, the heart and soul of DCK9, sadly passed away. His passion, dedication, and commitment to the dogs, the handlers, and the industry as a whole will never be forgotten. It was not just a business to Carl, it was his life’s work, and his legacy lives on through the people and dogs he trained and supported

At this time of year, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. For those working over the festive period, please stay safe, both yourselves and your dogs 🐕‍🦺

Thank you to everyone who has shown kindness, support, and respect throughout the year. It has meant more than words can say

As many of you know, Carl spent over two decades as an NTIPDU instructor and assessor, a role he carried with pride, commitment, and professionalism

Throughout those years, he supported countless handlers and their dogs, whether they were starting their security career or simply trying to build a better bond at home. Carl always gave 100%, every single day 🐾

Recently, the Ntipdu showed their updated logo, and in a beautiful tribute, they have incorporated Carl’s beloved German Shepherd, Duke 🖤🐕

Duke wasn't just Carl's working dog, he was Carl’s partner and best friend. A huge thank you to NTIPDU for this thoughtful recognition

As many of you will remember, Carl sadly passed away in July of this year. His passion, his knowledge, and his support touched the lives of so many, handlers, pet owners, colleagues, and of course, every dog who had the privilege of working with him

Thank you to everyone who has shown love, shared memories, and kept his spirit alive ❤️

Just look at her. PD Maddie, bred by Danielle and the late Carl - Huntgard Kennels, continues to do what she was bred to do, serve, protect, and never miss a step

Carl may no longer be with us, but there’s no doubt he’d be bursting with pride seeing Maddie out there working hard and making a real difference. A true testament to his legacy and the passion he poured into every dog 🐕‍🦺

Proud breeder moment – Maverick the lifesaver 🐾🩸❤️

Couldn’t be prouder to see Maverick, from our Labrador Cheese x Beiley litter, making such an incredible impact, recently celebrating his 15th blood donation, helping to save the lives of at least 60 poorly dogs 💉🐶

Bred by Danielle and the late Carl, Maverick is a true reflection of what we aim for in every pairing, carefully selected for temperament, health, and stability 🐾

His amazing owner Jools recently shared some beautiful photos of Maverick. It’s beautiful to see a dog not only thrive in life, but give back in such a meaningful way ❤️

🐾🩸 Pet Blood Bank UK is always looking for suitable donors. If your dog meets the criteria, please consider signing them up — it’s a simple way they can be a real-life hero too 🦸🏽‍♀️

PD Bones ☠️🐕‍🦺🚔💪

Massive well done to PD Bones of Staffordshire Police, who recently played a key role in tracking and detaining a high-risk suspect wanted for multiple serious offences. Solid work from a dog bred for exactly this kind of work.

Bones was bred here by Danielle and the late Carl, out of Bear x Dark (Duke x Cici). She’s second-generation Huntgard breeding, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that bloodline doing exactly what it was built to do: work hard, stay sharp, and make an impact where it counts.

Seeing dogs like Bones out there on the frontline, excelling in real operational work, is what it’s all about.

Well done to Bones and her handler — a credit to the breed and the badge 🐾🚔

Bursting with pride to see two of our very own German Shepherd breeding – PD Bones ☠️ and PD Maddie 🖤 – recognised at this year’s Thin Blue Paw Awards! 💙

Bred by Danielle and Carl, Bones and Maddie have gone on to do outstanding work alongside their handlers at Staffordshire Police, helping to keep communities safe and showing exactly what incredible police dogs are made of.

A massive well done as well to the rest of the Staffordshire Police Dog Unit who were all celebrated as Police Dog Team of the Year! 👏🐕‍🦺

The Thin Blue Paw Foundation does an amazing job recognising the bravery, loyalty and dedication of police dogs and their handlers across the UK. Every single day, they put themselves on the line to protect us all, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Huntgard-bred dogs among these heroes.

💔 Saddened to hear that one of the brave dogs pictured has since passed away. Thoughts are with their handler, colleagues and family — and we honour their service and loyalty, RIP PD Kev 🚔🐾🌈

Meet Charlie, a Labrador from our Brie × Rocky litter, proudly working as a licensed detection dog with Staffordshire Police 🚔

Charlie’s story, like all our litters, began with Carl. He whelped this litter himself and poured his heart into raising them, guiding each pup through their early environmentals, introducing them to the big, exciting, noisy world, and laying the foundation for the confident, capable dogs they’ve become.

Carl is no longer with us, but his love and dedication for the dogs and his skill in preparing them lives on in every one of them.

Well done, Charlie, and here’s to all the working dogs and handlers keeping communities safe 🐾🖤

🖤 In Loving Memory of Carl 🖤
Thank you to everyone who came to Carl’s funeral and helped give him the farewell he truly deserved.

A special thank you to the dog handlers who stood tall to form the guard of honour and gave Carl his final es**rt... it was deeply moving and exactly the kind of tribute he would have been proud of. The respect, the turnout, and the love shown by the working dog community meant the world.

It was perfect... a send-off that honoured not just the man, but everything he stood for.
Loyalty. Discipline. Heart. Dogs. 🐾

Carl was sent off by myself, Bear, his friends and my family... those who truly mattered to him. His real family.

🖤 Carl’s funeral – a note to his clients, friends, and dog family

Carl’s funeral is booked, and I wanted to share this with all of you — not just as clients, but as the community that meant so much to him.

To Carl, you weren’t just bookings or names in a diary. You became his friends. His extended dog family. The bond he built with you — and your dogs — ran deep, and he was happy when training your dogs.

So many of you have already reached out, and I know many of you are planning to attend his funeral. If you would like to come and pay your respects, please feel free to message me directly.
