Sheep mastectomy ✂️

Here we have our vet Niall performing a sheep mastectomy on Agatha, a very polite Suffolk pet sheep who has been suffering from a chronic case of mastitis

The surgery was performed under general anesthesia, and although this surgery can leave behind a large area of 'dead space' that can take time to heal, Agatha went home shortly afterwards and is doing well back with her group!

The video in the comments shows her very shortly after her surgery, where despite being a bit sleepy she is always keen for a treat!

Thank you Shires Vets Farm for the interesting referral

Massive thank you to Mollie at shires vets for coming out on Sunday and doing a c section on a ewe with massive lambs inside and weren’t coming out any other way.
Unfortunately one was dead but we have one very healthy lamb and a healthy ewe so a good ending 👌🏻

Unfortunately we’ve received news today of the closure of Biobest Laboratories.
Whilst not the lab we send day to day samples to, it may affect some of our clients on the HiHealth Scheme programmes such as MV, BVD etc
The lab have advised they will be in touch with health scheme members to transition to an alternative lab provider so these services can still be carried out.

As you can imagine we are delighted 🥰

🏆 We Have The Best Vets 🏆

Rosie surprised us with triplets this year!!
💙🩷💙
We have decided to name these little bundles of joy ‘New Horizon James, Paul and Mollie’ after our incredible vets at shiresvetfarm
We are forever grateful to the entire team, though this wonderful trio have gone above and beyond supporting us with kidding and thanks to their support all are well, and thriving 💕
Thanks for all that you do folks 🙌

Last weekend, James was called to assist with rescuing a cow who had becoming stuck in a pond. Once the cow was sedated, rescuers were able to secure belly straps round the cow and pull her to safety!

BTV Update: Bluetongue has been confirmed in a Staffordshire Ram.
We encourage farmers to familiarise themselves with symptoms and get in touch if they suspect a case of Bluetongue.
Vaccination of Sheep and Cattle is highly encourage to reduce the severity of the disease and to protect others.

If people with smaller flock want to get in touch we are hoping to have dispensing days in-order to share the burden and the costs of vaccinating your animals.

Yesterday Adam T followed up on a goat nanny who he performed a C-section on 8 weeks ago. It’s great to see both Mum and baby are thriving!
