Shelby has worked tirelessly to take Luna from a super green little horse to a horse that attends pony club camps & competitions in the last year. It’s sometimes easy to forget that she’s only just 14 as she rides beautifully and has such a good way with all the horses we have on the yard. It makes me smile so much to see them doing so well and I’m ever so proud that through hard work, dedication and kindness Shelby is creating the most wonderful little Spanish horse in Luna.

Well done Shelbert & let’s look forward to the journey ahead 🦄

For the last week Carlos, Logan & Baz have been getting to know new arrivals, Woody & Barney, over the fence. Yesterday we let them all in together for the first time and as you can see it was like all their dreams had come true!
For me it’s Logan going straight to the hay hutch full of haylage and then just standing there eating refusing to move and certainly having no interest in getting involved in any sort of running around 😂 Let’s just bear in mind he’s a Thoroughbred but at this point is identifying as a Labrador!
These boys are all 16.2 plus which then also makes Logan look like a pony as he’s only 15.2!

Well August was intense in more ways than one! Not only was there a rather large wildfire in the village (thankfully we were unaffected) but the weather also continued to insist on not giving us any rain all month 🤦🏻‍♀️☀️
I have, on countless occasions this summer, counted my blessings that we have 110 acres and only 30 horses and that we have marsh paddocks and those that run along a river! We’ve still had no grass growth in some areas but we’ve not got a Sahara desert situation anywhere & now the countdown begins to the winter paddocks which, thankfully, have been rested since April. Now watch it rain all winter 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

DUNWICH HEATH FIRE UPDATE

Wow, what a night! From getting the alert that the heath was on fire to spending most of the night at the yard making sure the fire didn’t come any closer ~ it’s about a mile down the road from us near the coastguard cottages. We moved a couple of herds onto the marshes as they were getting smoked out and a couple suffer with asthma but apart from that not one of the horses really seemed to care that we were all running around after them!
At 5am this morning I returned and fed everyone & as you can see we currently have no smoke but there’s one hell of a smoke cloud drifting out to sea away from the village.
I just wanted to say a big big thank you to all the lovely people who have messaged me, I have over 100 messages to get through from people wishing us well and offering up help if needed and it was and is very much appreciated 🥰
I thought after the antics from last night people may want to just hear the beautiful sound of the horses having their breakfast early this morning so please do enjoy 💓

The advice from is to avoid Dunwich whilst they continue to get the fire under control ~ we owe them so much, there are 17 engines and 90 fire crews on site and without them the place we love dearly would most certainly have been taken by the fire.

Also, this is after 3 baths in a row as she is the ultimate bog pony 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

There is something so so special about early mornings in Dunwich, it really is a completely unique place and we are very lucky to call it home and our workplace 💓🦄🐴
