Right now, 1 in 10 children don’t have a book at home. That’s why we’re proud to be working with Twinkl, who are helping us change that by donating 60,000 books to our Squirrels and Beavers. 📚

To make it extra special, Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields has written the foreword, cheering on our youngest Scouts as they discover the joy of reading.

Leysmill (31st Angus) Scout Group is a rural group that work with all ages, genders, abilities, faiths, cultures and disabilities, creating an inclusive troop for all. We provide team and individual life long skills to develop young people into positive community centred role models. Pictured are some youngsters in Beavers (younger children) and Scouts (teenagers) overcoming personal obstacles, being self sufficient in cooking and camping, developing den building and pioneering skills.

The project that Morrison’s Foundation are funding will go towards helping us to modernise our World War II era hut to provide fully inclusive toilets and efficient at all times of year.

Sandy Webster (Group Lead Volunteer) said: “This grant goes towards helping us to modernise the hut in ways that we would never be affordable for a small rural troop. It will help us to greatly improve the delivery of our valuable service today and in the future.”

Today (Sunday 4th June) we welcomed local scout groups and their leaders to Arbroath lifeboat station.

Our visitors were shown round the station and our lifeboats and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

The visit may even have inspired some future crew members!!!

We hope everyone had a great day and would like to say a big thank you from all the crew for the kind donation !!!
