One of the things we hear from riders who come to clinics at Aike Grange is how much they get from working with someone new.

It's not about your regular trainer being wrong - it's about getting a fresh pair of eyes. A different coach will notice different things, explain things in a different way, and sometimes that's exactly what unlocks something you've been working on for months.

Our clinics bring in some brilliant coaches throughout the year - different disciplines, different approaches, all with something valuable to offer.

We've got both here at Aike Grange - and riders tend to have strong opinions.

Some love the outdoor arena in summer - the space, the light, the feeling of riding in the open air when the weather's good. There's nothing quite like it.

Others swear by the indoor - consistent going whatever the weather, no distractions, and perfect for focused schooling sessions.

Members get unlimited outdoor access plus indoor sessions included in their membership, and pay as you go bookings are available for both too.

The warm-up can make or break your competition day - and it's one of the things riders tell us they find hardest to get right.

Here are five things worth thinking about:

1️⃣ Starting too late. Give yourself more time than you think you need - especially at a new venue.
2️⃣ Doing too much. Your horse doesn't need to be exhausted before you go in. Save something for the test.
3️⃣ Ignoring the atmosphere. Let your horse look around and settle before you ask for work.
4️⃣ Riding your test in full. Run through movements, not the whole thing - you want it to feel fresh in the arena.
5️⃣ Forgetting to breathe. Sounds obvious. Genuinely easy to forget when you're nervous.

The summer holidays are here - and for riders, that means one thing: more time in the saddle. ☀️

Whether you're using the extra time to work on something specific, prep for an upcoming competition, or just enjoy riding without the usual time pressure - it's a brilliant opportunity.

Our arenas are available throughout the summer. Members have unlimited access already - just book your slot through the website. And if you're not a member yet, pay-as-you-go bookings are open too.

For families with young riders, our family membership covers up to 4 riders for £150/month - unlimited arena access, indoor sessions, and competition entries included. It's genuinely the easiest way to make the most of the summer.

There's something about the yard early on a summer morning.

Before the day gets busy, before the arenas fill up - it's just you, your horse, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find anywhere else.

If you've never ridden here in the morning, it's worth trying. The arenas are available from early, and there's something genuinely special about having the space to yourself before the rest of the world wakes up.

Members can book any slot through the website. Pay as you go bookings are open too - just pick your time and come and enjoy it.
