🔥 BE CAREFUL IN THE HOT WEATHER! 🔥
There’s warm weather approaching, and it’s really important to be prepared for your pets. Our overall advice is that if you are in doubt - keep your pets inside in the cool.
Heat stroke can set in quicker than you think, and in cooler whether than you think - anything above 20 degrees can be a risk, and different dogs will have different tolerances to others.
1. Shade or keep inside
Make sure your pet always has access to shade, if not kept inside in the cool
2. Provide water at all times
Drinking water must always be available. Water to play/cool down in is also beneficial if outside
3. Care with brachycephalic pets
Panting and heat can be much more strain on brachycephalic dogs than others. Always lean on the side of careful for them - avoid walks, minimise exposure to the heat
4. Don’t walk if too hot, and never leave in the car
A bored, un-walked dog is better than an overheated one. Dogs can over exert themselves quickly in the heat - if you are going to walk your dog, keep it short, and in the cooler hours of the day.
If you are going out and about in the car - keep windows open and aircon on. Never leave your dog unattended in the car.
