Last week we had the lovely Lily in for the removal of an abscess that had formed on her back 🩺

When small furries get abscesses they can be quite hard to treat and often need surgical removal as the pus is so thick 🐹

We have seen Lily back for her first post-op check with the surgical site looking good! We look forward to seeing her for her last check soon 💕

Last week we said goodbye to our vet Sophie who had been with us since graduating 🎓
Sophie has had the exciting opportunity to start a rotating internship at a referral hospital to see if there is a speciality for her! 🐾
We hope you will join us in wishing her the very best of luck on her new adventure 🩺🤩

How sweet are these lovely kittens that came in to visit us this week 🐾

Some of the kittens weren’t feeling their best, so they had some care from us (and lots of cuddles!) 🩷

🐾 Helping Pets Heal—Without Surgery or Medication
Did you know we offer K-Laser therapy to support your pet’s healing and comfort?

This advanced treatment uses light energy (known as photobiomodulation) to:
✨ Reduce pain
✨ Decrease inflammation
✨ Speed up healing
It’s completely non-invasive, pain-free, and most pets find it relaxing 💙
We’ve even seen amazing results—one of our patients, Rufus, had a wound following a walk and the wound healed completely in just 6 sessions, with no need for stitches. Check out the before and after photos 👀

💡 What can K-Laser therapy help with?
✔️ Arthritis (like osteoarthritis) and joint pain
✔️ Hip and elbow dysplasia
✔️ Back and neck pain (including disc issues)
✔️ Muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries (sprains/strains)
✔️ Post-surgery recovery and pain relief
✔️ Wound healing (including cuts, abrasions, and hotspots)
✔️ Skin conditions and infections
✔️ Ear inflammation and conditions
✔️ Dental and gum inflammation
✔️ Nerve pain and inflammation
✔️ Chronic conditions requiring ongoing pain management
Many pets show improved mobility, faster healing, and greater comfort after just a few sessions!

Meet JJ 🐾🐱

JJ is an older boy who was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (a common disease in older cats). JJ also had a lot of dental disease that required extractions under general anaesthetic.

JJ came in the day before his dental to have intravenous fluid therapy to ensure he was as prepared for his dental as he could be. He was very happy in his kennel all day, enjoying lots of cuddles and fuss.

We know putting our older animals under anaesthetic can be a worry but there are lots of ways we can make this as safe as possible 🐾

Next up for Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month is SVN Lara 💚

Lara is one of our second-year Student Veterinary Nurses and has been part of the team since May 2022. She first joined us as an Animal Nursing Assistant before progressing into her veterinary nurse training. Lara is looking forward to becoming a fully qualified RVN soon. 🐾

Lara particularly enjoys inpatient care, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care, comfort and attention to support the best possible recovery.

She also has a real soft spot for Chihuahuas 🐶 — so if there’s one staying in the hospital, you’ll almost certainly find Lara giving it some extra cuddles and attention! 💚

Lara is often kept busy outside of work with her cat Willow, dog Peach and horse Jilly.🐾

Introducing Esmé next as part of Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 🐾💚

Esmé is a student vet nurse at our practice. She initially came to us for a 10 week placement in 2024 after her first year of university and came back for her third year (placement year). Esmé is doing a veterinary nursing degree with a specialism in companion animal behaviour and hopes to run clinic appointments about behavioural problems. She will become a registered vet nurse in 2027 once she finishes her forth and final year of university. She is interested in doing her dissertation about client consent forms and how clients interpret them so stay tuned as she may need your opinions! 🐾

Ez’s favourite aspects of the job involve calculating fluid therapy rates, monitoring anaesthetics and nursing consults! She also loves feeding the patients when they recover from their operations, giving them a bit of TLC is a wonderful part of being a vet nurse. 💚

Esmé has one cat called Clementine but she aspires to own numerous rescue cats when the time is right.🐾
