We’re urging everyone enjoying our countryside to help protect livestock.

Reports have been received of dogs being let off the lead in fields containing sheep, resulting in animals being chased and, in some cases, seriously injured or killed.

To keep our rural communities, livestock, and dog walkers safe, please remember:

🐾 Keep dogs on a short lead around livestock
Even the friendliest dog can worry or injure animals if allowed to roam freely.

💩 Always pick up after your dog
Dog faeces can spread diseases that are harmful to sheep, cattle, and even people.

⚠️ Do not tamper with farm signs, gates, or electric fences
These are in place for the safety of both the public and livestock.

🚜 Leave gates as you find them
Or follow instructions displayed on signs to help farmers manage their animals safely.

Your actions in the countryside have real consequences for farmers, animals and other members of the public.

Thank you for helping keep our rural areas safe and respectful for everyone.
