🐱💚 Warning: Kitten cuteness overload! 💚🐱

Little Virgil came to see our lovely nurse Jules for his second vaccination and microchip, and it's safe to say he completely stole our hearts! 🥹

His irresistible little face was just too much for our VCA Kirsty to resist, so of course there had to be plenty of cuddles... and even a cheeky selfie! 📸🐾

Let's be honest—nobody likes vaccinations or microchips. But brave little Virgil didn't even flinch! 💪✨ We have a feeling all the yummy treats we offered helped to keep his mind off things! It was a feast fit for a champion... and that's exactly what he was! 🐟😸

Vaccinations are an important part of keeping your kitten protected against serious diseases, while a microchip provides permanent identification, giving them the best chance of being reunited with you should they ever decide to go on an unexpected adventure.

Well done, Virgil—you were an absolute superstar, and we hope those treats were worth it! 💚🐾

✨ VIPs deserve VIP treatment! ✨

Last week we had the pleasure of seeing the lovely little Sweep, who came to visit us after experiencing a very sore bottom. Poor Sweep wasn't feeling his usual fabulous self, but thankfully the cause was something simple – his a**l glands just needed relieving.

Sweep was feeling much more comfortable and ready to get back to being his happy, confident self. 💕

As one of our VIP members, Sweep always arrives with true VIP energy and plenty of charm! We're so pleased he's feeling much better now and can't wait to see him again (hopefully just for a routine visit next time! 🐾).

She was such a star ⭐️ during her stay and an absolute delight ❤️❤️

This is the lovely Stampie who is owned by our amazing Head Nurse Jules taking advantage of the cool breeze ♥️ during yet another hot day.

It is important that our pets, especially in the heat are able to find shade, or respite from the sun.

SO WHAT IS HEAT STROKE

Heat stroke is a term commonly used for hyperthermia or elevated body temperature. Generally speaking, if a pet's body temperature exceeds 39.4°C, it is considered abnormal or hyperthermic.

Body temperatures above 41°C without previous signs of illness are most commonly associated with exposure to excessive heat and are often referred to as heat stroke.
The critical temperature where multiple organ failure and impending death occurs is around 41.2°C to 42.7°C.

Signs of heatstroke-
☀️elevated breathing rates,
☀️dry or sticky gums,
☀️abnormal gum colour,
☀️lethargic or disoriented,
☀️sudden seizures,
☀️Restlessness or agitation, pacing, seeking shade,
☀️Drooling
☀️Vomiting or diarrhoea
☀️Reddening and warmth of the ears (rabbits and small furries)
☀️Wetness around the nose. (Rabbits and small furries)

How to prevent heatstroke -

🐾Make sure your pet always has access to a cool shaded area, both indoors and outside

🐾Restrict exercise on warm days (dogs should be walked early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day)

🐾Pack a water bottle on walks

🐾Never leave pets in a car or a hot room

🐾Ensure your pet always has drinking water available. Adding ice can help keep it cool, or a forzen water bottle for small furries such as rabbits.

🐾 cooling mats (especially in rabbit & ginuea pig hutches)

And always remember, hot pavements can burn paws! If it’s too hot to hold your hand on, it’s too hot for your pet to walk on.

🐾💉 Winnie was all smiles for her annual booster appointment! 💉🐾

A big thank you to the gorgeous Winnie for coming in to see our lovely Vet Ewa for her annual booster vaccination. As you can see, she was a wonderful patient and certainly won over everyone with that beautiful Golden Retriever smile! 🥰🐶

Keeping your dog's vaccinations up to date is one of the best ways to protect them from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis and infectious canine hepatitis. Annual boosters help to maintain your dog's immunity, ensuring they continue to have the best protection throughout their lives. They also give our vets the perfect opportunity to carry out a full nose-to-tail health check, helping to spot any concerns early and keep your furry friend feeling their very best. 💚

✨ Fun Golden Retriever Fact! ✨
Golden Retrievers are famous for having incredibly "soft mouths." They were originally bred to retrieve game birds without damaging them, and many Goldens can gently carry delicate objects—even an egg—without breaking it! 🥚🐕

⭐️ Meet Stanley! ⭐️

Handsome Stanley came to see us for his routine neutering procedure, and he was an absolute superstar from start to finish! 💚🐾

Once he was awake and recovering, Stanley was found enjoying some well-deserved post-operative cuddles with our wonderful VCA, Ally. 🥹💚 Sometimes a little extra comfort is just what our patients need, and we're always happy to provide it.

When your pet stays with us for the day, whether it's for surgery or another procedure, you can rest assured they're cared for every step of the way. From the moment they arrive until they're ready to head home, our nurses and VCAs are there to make sure they feel safe, comfortable and loved. We monitor them closely, keep them warm, offer plenty of reassurance, and, of course, give lots of cuddles to help make their stay as stress-free as possible.

Our nursing and VCA teams play such an important role in your pet's care, supporting them before, during and after their procedure, and treating every patient as if they were one of our own. 💚
