Satterley Labradors 5 star licenced Labrador breeder of fully health tested, KC reg'd labs. Full life time support. Licence number- 000006908. We are insured & registered with HMRC.

Experienced, responsible, licenced breeder with fully health & DNA tested, Kennel club registered labradors. We have been awarded a 5 star breeding licence from Dover District Council. A little about us -all our labs are part of the family, are wonderful companions & just a little bit spoilt! We are passionate about breeding with the utmost care for them & their puppies and adhere to all the highe

r KC standards re breeding conditions & health testing (see below). All puppies are raised in the home, as are all our dogs. Before going to their new homes they will be micro-chipped, vet-checked, vaccinated & KC registered. They leave wormed & flea treated, with a full puppy pack, 5 generation certificate & lifetime support. The support starts from first contact and no question is too big or small. This is part of the package you are getting when you purchase a Satterley Labrador puppy! Support ranges from planning to bring puppy home, through settling, house training, adolescence, to managing older labs, their later life & after. We consider all our puppy buyers as friends/family as each puppy leaves with a piece of us- cliched but very true! Litter What's App groups enable us all to see the siblings grow, share advice & stories & adds another layer of support. All our puppies & dogs are loved & wonderfully cared for in the home with quality food & full attention. Puppies are socialised & experience living in a busy family home with all its noise etc. Our puppies go to vetted & wonderful homes only, who commit to keeping in touch (within reason- we won't be interfering unless needed!)
If you would like more information about us & our dogs/puppies then please call/message or email & we can arrange a time to have a chat. This gives you the chance to vet us (very important) & of course to be vetted. Please note the following-
*Once vetted, we operate a waiting list so please be prepared to wait, to commit to being on our list only & keeping us informed of any plan changes. This is essential as we try to only breed when we have a full list to ensure each puppy has a home to go to.
**Our contract states any puppy/dog no longer able to be cared for must be returned to us so we can re-home or for them to remain with us if that is in the best interest of the puppy/dog. No Satterley Labrador will go into rescue.
***All puppies go to their new homes with breeding & importing restrictions. We are willing to work with the buyer &, if appropriate, lift them. This is to ensure the best interests of the puppy are held at all times & that a Satterley Labrador isn't used for puppy farming/shipped abroad irregularly.
****KC rules -no dog to be mated till aged 1 & from 2nd season, with a year & a season between litters. Max of 4 litters/2 if caesarian. Cannot be mated after age 8. We wait till 3rd season & aprox age 2 as believe this is within the best interests of the lab.

A wonderful Poppy update. ❤️
We had the news back from the lab after the testing of the removed bone and tissue and the margins were all clear! Just the best, most amazing news.
😍
Poppy is still being hand fed very soft food but that's ok. I think she likes it and we have a little routine now! 😊.
Poppy had a little walk at Poppy's Play Parks the other day on a lead and she managed a little walk and then got in the car for a sleep. She enjoyed it bless her. Some gentle building up of strength is the plan now. X ❤️.
But the best news for this amazing, gentle, lovely and much loved girl. The dog that started Satterley Labradors and she deserves the world x ❤️

A little update on Poppy.
Poppy and I went back to Surrey Wednesday for Poppy's follow up appt. Poor Poppy again wasn't allowed breakfast. She was really brave and let them look in her mouth without sedation again The openings in the wound have started to close which is amazing.
Poor Poppy has had a really bad ear infection. She doesn't have ear issues so this has been unusual. They think it's mainly due to the heat and the cone funneling the heat in. Plus Poppy lays with that ear on the plastic in the heat. She has not been letting me put the medication in and really cries in pain when I try to apply it or wipe her ear. It doesn't help that I can't hold her head steady due to the jaw. Poppy is generally really compliant so for her to pull back and cry it must hurt.
I was so pleased Poppy let them wipe her ear out at the vets. ❤️.
It was suggested we start leaving the cone off if we are watching her for little periods in time and next week look at introducing her to some of the calmer girls. I was also to offer her some food in the bowl/on a plate and see how she was. Just at the end of each hand fed meal. I tried it and she just moved it around the bowl with her nose and couldn't take it and keep it in her mouth. The oncologist said she will need to learn the new mechanics of her mouth and some dogs struggle. She needs to stay on soft food for at least another 2-3 weeks and maybe forever. We are in no rush to swap her and both of us can't imagine moving her to hard food. Poppy loves the Millies canned food so she is happy. She quite likes me feeding her too! I have a feeling I may be doing this for quite some time! 😁.
All in all she is definitely improving. Still sleeping a lot which is natural and we are sleeping each night with her in the whelping room. x . We can start a 5 minute lead walk next week and increase by 5 mins every 2 days. We also let Bessie be with her a bit today and that was lovely. Bessie is so calm (a true 2nd Poppy) and so was lovely and gentle. It might be some time until I trust Delilah and Gretel! 😂. All in all progress and the vets will hopefully be calling me Monday with the results from the lab as to whether enough bone was removed. They will then catch up 4 weeks post op and take it from there. Bless her heart. She is a fighter and just amazing. ❤️

Poppy was amazing at the specialist vets yesterday. She wasn't happy at not being fed in the morning though, incase she needed to be sedated. 😘

She was so, so good and let them look in her mouth without sedation in exchange for some soft food. She let them lift the lip and look underneath - so brave. They said she was the gentlest girl taking the food despite being starving! 😂.

There is a little hole in the wound area which is what has caused the bleed. They are hopeful that it will heal without intervention but they have extended the antibiotics for another week to be sure.
But such a brave girl. ❤️

We are back up to the Surrey vet for the actual post op check on Wednesday that may also require sedation but I am hopeful she will let them touch her mouth again without. 🤞.

Poppy is actually doing really well considering what is going on. Still has to be kept separate from the girls, wearing a cone and the mouth is vulnerable but she is enjoying being hand fed and is resting a lot which is just what she needs. ,❤️.

Pic below of Poppy just now showing how well she can rest! ❤️😁

An update on Poppy (sorry it's taken me time to write this). ❤️

We bought Poppy home Sunday. She was really pleased to see us which was so lovely. We were so emotional to see her though apprehensive. She has been shaved around her mouth and neck which was a bit of a shock and we haven't really seen her wound as such as her lip has sort of collapsed over in that area as she doesn't have a jaw bone or teeth for it to rest against.

We were advised not to try and look at her wound and leave the whole area alone. We wouldn't have fiddled with it anyway but Poppy most definitely wouldn't let me. She won't let me touch that side at all which makes wiping her mouth after eating a challenge.

Poppy has a strict medication routine and the biggest cone that must be kept on all the time and is lethal! Poppy has to be separate from the girls due to infection risk but also as the whole area is fragile and vulnerable at the moment as well as so painful.

Poppy has to be hand fed which is a very messy business due to Poppy struggling to keep food on that side of the mouth in which means me, her and the floor are quite covered! 😁.

Poor Poppy has been restless and doing lots of pacing and panting but yesterday and today she has seemed more settled and had some really long, deep sleeps which is amazing.

Unfortunately Poppy has had 2 bleeds and so I am taking her back to the specialist vet tomorrow as they want to check her over. She won't be happy as she can't have breakfast in case they need to sedate her!

The most important thing for us is Poppy is still wagging her tail and was super happy to see us. She is enjoying sleeping with one of us in the whelping room at night. We took the front part of the box off as she kept bashing it with the cone when tried to get in and I was worried the edge would go into the space in the cone and hit her mouth.

We have about a week until the results are back from the analysis of the bone. They need to confirm that there was a clear margin at each end of the bone. If so then I guess Poppy gets the all clear! ❤️😍❤️

Thank you for all your kind words, posts & messages.
❤️❤️❤️

Update on Poppy-
Poppy settled well at the vets overnight and had the op this morning. When I met with the surgeon yesterday they said they would like to keep her in till Sunday or even Monday (as opposed to Saturday that we were originally told). This was to do with managing her pain levels.
They called after the op to say it went well. Section of Jaw bone removed with associated teeth.
Poppy came out of the anaesthetic really well and they said was really good with all they did pre op wise. She was looking for food (😁) but couldn't have any for an hour or so and then they gave her soft rolled up balls of meat that she enjoyed.
Hopefully she will have a good sleep and they will call me tomorrow. Poor Poppy will need to wear a cone for at least 2 weeks plus total rest for that period and not be allowed near the other dogs either. This is due to the risk of infection which makes sense .
Some tricky logistics but that's ok. Most important thing is it is done and now we are onto recovery. Thank you for all your lovely messages and support x X ❤️
