I like to explain the effects of what I call a full bucket of emotions which triggers most dogs problem behaviours. Keeping that emotional bucket empty is very difficult but highly effective when dealing with problem behaviours in Dogs. This can be more difficult with working breeds so all training works best if you work with their basic instinct that they have been bred for. Seeking searching licking chewing are all calming behaviours for dogs encouraging any of these will help keep the bucket empty. 121 behavioural training and advice follow the link or WhatsApp (07528) 343171.

Puppies need to play but do not let them learn bullying behaviours with the older resident dog. They will practice this in play with other dogs in the park and it’s not fair on the older dog. Play can quickly escalate into fighting once the emotional bucket overloads. 1. Break up play fighting periodically to empty the bucket of emotions. 2. Watch to see if both dogs instigate play or is one dog trying to hide and get away. 3. Place a puppy house line on a soft harness to guide puppy away, do not verbally correct unless it is a clear cue for an alternative behaviour. Verbal correct can heighten the emotions. 3. Be sure that any socialising classes or daycare are monitoring puppy behaviour. 121 behaviour and training available follow the link to book on PM https://my.timetrade.com/book/Z112M

Little Sam a never ending source of entertainment for Colin. Sam was a typical terrier always on the go and Colin watched. People’s perceptions of a small dog is less trouble are disillusioned, little Sam was more of a challenge than Colin for most of his life, but very rewarding. Both rescues which always come with baggage but the best part is unraveling it all, the reward is phenomenal. . FOLLOW THE LINK TO BOOK. https://my.timetrade.com/book/Z112M

Collies need to be exercising their instincts regularly, it is very hard to walk a Collie without taking something for them to stalk, herd or chase. Training a Collie to live in our domesticated world needs control around the chase, this is best done at home and then in the environment where this can get out of hand. If I forgot a toy on my walks, Colin would find a stick to stalk and herd. Playing with your dog with sticks can be dangerous because of mouth injury etc. If your dog picks up a stick, do not entertain them, make the item boring to you. Colin did learn that the bigger the stick the more attention he got! I always tried to walk with a toy and encourage scent games, which calms any dog in a stimulating environment.
