🐾 **A little extra care goes a long way** 💗

Lovely Maddie recently came in to see us for surgery. As Maddie has a history of seizures, we knew that keeping her calm, comfortable and closely monitored during her stay was especially important.

As she woke up from her procedure, our wonderful Veterinary Care Assistant, Imogen, made sure Maddie had some extra reassurance. She climbed in beside her and calmly sat with her, offering plenty of comfort and companionship until it was time for Maddie to be collected by her owner. 🥰

It’s moments like these that show just how much our team cares for every patient who comes through our doors. Sometimes the best medicine is simply having someone by your side. ❤️

A big thank you to Imogen for giving Maddie the reassurance she needed — and well done to brave Maddie! 🐶💕

⚠️ GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING – wound/abscess footage ⚠️

Poor Bert (this was a few weeks ago now) had a rather unfortunate run-in with his feline neighbour… and came off worse for wear! 🐱💥🐱

Bert was bitten on the bottom, and unfortunately the bite became infected, developing into the rather impressive abscess you’ll see in the video. 😳

By the time we saw him, Bert had gone off his food and had a high temperature, both signs that the infection was making him feel pretty poorly.

We admitted him to hospital so we could lance and thoroughly flush the abscess, and gave him medication to treat the infection, relieve his discomfort and help him feel much better. 🩺❤️

And what a difference a few hours can make! 🥹

By the afternoon, Bert’s temperature had returned to normal and he’d polished off TWO big bowls of food for us! 🍽️🍽️ He was then able to head home feeling much more comfortable — and a much happier cat. 🐾💕

Cat bites may look tiny on the surface, but those little puncture wounds can seal over quickly and trap bacteria underneath the skin, sometimes resulting in a large and painful abscess.

If your cat has been in a scrap, keep a close eye out for swelling, pain, lethargy, a reduced appetite or feeling unusually hot, and contact your veterinary team if you’re concerned.

Bert is now fully recovered— and perhaps he will give next door's garden a miss for a little while! 😸❤️

We have had a female black and white cat handed into us as a stray. We are urgently looking for her owner. She is mostly black and missing her tail (not a new injury but a distinguishing feature). She is an older girl and quite unwell. Please call us on 01278722088 if you have any information.

Cat found on New Road, East Huntspill this morning. Adult, entire male, black and white and no microchip. Very friendly. Has been injured so we need to find his owner asap. Please call us on 01278 722088
