We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made our Polden Hills Veterinary Centre Open Day so special!

👏 To our incredible Paws and Claws Crew – thank you for all your hard work, energy and dedication throughout the day. We couldn’t have done it without you!

🎪 A big thank you to all the stalls, community stands and charities who joined us – we were absolutely delighted to welcome so many of you and showcase the amazing work happening in our local community 💕

🍔🍦 And of course, thank you to our fantastic refreshment vendors – Got Buns Hun, Tipsy Moo Ice Cream & Ralph’s Coffee for keeping everyone fuelled and happy!

🐕 Finally, thank you to everyone who took part in our fun dog show – all your wonderful dogs truly stole the show and made the day so memorable!

The happiest reunion story! 🦜💚

A little parrot named Cleo went missing for a few days, and naturally her owners were beside themselves with worry. We took all of their details and kept everything crossed for good news.

Then, just two days later, a lovely gentleman from the village brought in a parrot he had found at a local school! Trying not to get too excited, we contacted the potential owners and asked them to send over some photos…

And then came the best news ever — it was her!!! 🎉

Little Cleo had clearly been feeling mischievous and had managed to unscrew a hatch to make her great escape! 🫣

Both Cleo and her owners are now safely reunited and so incredibly happy, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have helped bring them back together. Although we must admit… she was quite wonderful on reception for a short while! 😂💚

With the hot weather continuing, here are some important reminders to help keep your pets safe and cool:

🌡️ How to Keep Pets Cool
• Always provide plenty of fresh water
• Walk dogs early morning or later in the evening
• Avoid hot pavements – if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
• Provide shaded, cool areas indoors and outdoors
• Never leave pets in cars, even for a few minutes
• Cooling mats, damp towels, and frozen treats can help keep temperatures down

🚨 Signs of Heatstroke
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Collapse or confusion

Heatstroke can become an emergency very quickly. If you are concerned, seek veterinary advice immediately.
