🕊️ My journey of becoming a trainer and coach has introduced me to many equestrians connected to the industry.
And along with that my attention has always been drawn to the short fall of good educational training for both horse and rider.
Having spoken to many clients over the years about their experiences .. “I’m left feeling sad and frustrated for them” .. knowing that their passion of wanting to excel as a rider has only fallen into feeling disheartened, disappointed and frustrated “this sadly” has been mentioned to me on numerous occasions”
What makes me angry and frustrated is the training system here in the UK!
Many trainers - coaches and instructors are following this way of practice and unknowingly to them the system is not designed to listen, watch, understand and give respect to these amazing animals, to be patient and work together as one with the horse.
They’re methods are based on taking control of the whole process of training a horse “and what I mean by this” is they’re teaching equestrians to always be asking something either with their hands, legs, seat and transitions and the endless amount of transitions I see that are often ridden through a heavy rein contact is not correct ..😔 “which is the poler opposite to how horses learn and communicate with humans.
If the Training System took the time to understand and listen to what each horse was saying - they “then wouldn’t still be in the dark ages advocating the same nonsense that has been happening for many years.
This is the starting point where most equestrian’s go too .. to learn about how to better themselves to become a rider, trainer and coach and others maybe looking towards running their own business one day. “The worst thing of all - this is costing equestrian’s a substantial amount of money and time and only to find out further down the line “that it wasn’t what they thought it would be.
The system is failing equestrians in so many ways .. “I could say so much more but I’ll leave it there for now!
✅ One of the reasons I open the training establishment is to show and give equestrians the opportunity of learning the correct way of understanding and training horses and how to ride and handle them effectively .. for them to be able to offer what they naturally have in the way of rhythm, balance, focus, energy and lateral flexibility and movement.
With Traditional Training methods which many equestrians use here in 🇬🇧 .. are unaware that the natural abilities of a horse .. is slowly being taken away.
“I chose many years ago to study and analyse the welfare of horses and to master the art of listening to what they were saying” to improve my own experience’s and knowledge .. to be able to learn from them to give them the best training possible.
A NOTE- to say .. don’t be afraid to alter your way of riding or training .. to be able to connect, understand and adapt .. will bring you the answers you’ve been looking for.
