Rescue is so very hard at the moment.

Daily we receive multiple requests to take cats and kittens into our care, we help as many as we can and often we need immediate vet intervention to stabilise and begin the journey to a safe pain free life.

Our vets bills currently stand at just over £4000 with Colne Valley Vets and just over £3000 at Whitworth Veterinary Practice Ltd

Our vets are very kind to us but we need to drastically reduce these bills to continue to help those most in need.

Minor issues left untreated become major hence the costs involved.

We are out fundraising, we do as much as we can to generate income but at this unbelievably busy time, it’s just not enough.

So we are asking you to help us, yet again, with £1 this Sunday…..

If everyone who follows us popped a pound in the pot today we could clear the bills and have surplus for Mango’s eye surgery scheduled for 2 weeks time and Petals Patella surgery…..

You can help by donating direct to the vets…..

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

We desperately need your help to reduce our vets bills.

Much as we try with fundraising and attending events, it’s like swimming up hill……

Many of the cats and kittens coming into our care need extensive vet intervention to give them their lives back, we don’t take the easy option of putting to sleep if there is a chance….

We have had some huge surgeries recently and our bills stand at almost £6000 across the 2 practices we use.

Our vets are very kind to us, sadly the cats we help have not been treated with kindness and simple conditions are much more serious by the time they get to us.

If you can help us with either a penny or a pound we will be extremely grateful, every donation matters and makes a difference.

Ways to donate……

Click the PayPal link, Friends and Family option means the cats get the full amount.

Thank you so very much for your continued support, it’s really hard out there at the moment, we only post a fraction of what we are dealing with.

Your donations mean we can continue to help those most in need because they didn’t ask for the life they ended up with.

Flystrike is more common in summer🐰 🪰

As the weather gets warmer, it's important to be extra vigilant when it comes to insects in your rabbits' enclosure. Flystrike is a condition that’s caused by flies laying eggs in your rabbits’ fur. These eggs then hatch and grow into maggots that burrow into your rabbits' skin and eat the flesh.

Not only is it painful and extremely unpleasant for rabbits and their owners, but it can also be life-threatening if not spotted and treated quickly. All rabbits can be at risk of developing flystrike, but it's particularly risky if they have a dirty bottom, open wounds, or live in a dirty environment.

Fortunately, it's easy to prevent flystrike by:

- Keeping your rabbits' home clean, clean up p*e and poo at lease once a day.
- Checking your rabbits daily.
- Feeding them a good diet to prevent their poo from sticking to their bottoms.
- Giving them space to exercise, overweight rabbits are more likely to struggle to clean themselves which can attract flies.
- Grooming long-haired rabbits regularly to stop dirt getting matted in their fur.
- Monitoring any wounds closely and keeping them clean and dry while they heal.
- Taking them for regular vet checks to stay ahead of any hidden health problems.

Unlike humans, dogs cannot sweat through their skin. They rely on panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and nose to regulate their body temperature. 🌡️

As temperatures rise today, be aware of heatstroke signs and act quickly. Share this information to help save lives.

Beat the Heat: Keep Your Rabbits Cool This Summer! 🐰🌞

Summer brings sunny days which means we need to take extra care for our furry friends.

Here’s how to keep your rabbits safe & comfortable:

💧 Offer a water bowl so that they can get a better drink; they will drink more efficiently and faster this way, and that’s important in the heat. Cool water will help to cool them down a bit. Don’t chill the water, but make sure it’s not boiling in the sun.

🧊 Do not give your rabbits ice cubes, as they can cause problems with their digestive system.

🧴 Sun tan lotion is a no. They are likely to lick it off, and we are yet to see a rabbit with ear skin cancer.

☁️ Offer plenty of shade, but if you are draping something over a run, make sure the air can circulate. The use of a battery-operated fan on runs or enclosures can help. Aim the fan at a frozen water bottle to cool the air it's circulating.

❄️ Frozen water bottles or cool pods are helpful.

No need to change their diet at all; just stick to their usual diet and make sure they drink lots by following the tips above.

Access to a safe, shady exercise area 24/7 is even more important in this heat as they will want to exercise when it cools down am and pm.

Share your keeping cool tips and photos with us! 📷
