Breed-specific play (aka predatory motor patterns).

Whilst all dogs are individuals, each breed was created for a specific job. It can be incredibly fulfilling for them to be allowed to engage in this behavior. We try to play breed-specific games wherever possible on walks, whether it be sheep balls with herding breeds, tug of war with terriers, or retrieving with Labradors. Here is Noah practicing using his nose and loving every minute.

Giving dogs choice.

We expect so much from our dogs without even realising it. We tell them where to walk, when to eat, what to eat, where to lie down. Maybe even when to scratch an itch or when they can play.

Choice and novelty is so important for dogs to be fulfilled. It could be as simple as letting them choose where you walk. Today Jessie and Tilly have choice mats (they can choose which food to lick first). What choices have you given your dog today?
