I have been receiving a high number of enquiries regarding vaccinations, so I would like to provide some clarification.
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), I am required to work under the direction of a veterinary surgeon when administering vaccines. In line with this, I may administer second or third vaccinations, but only when this has been authorised by your vet.
However, I am unable to carry out initial vaccinations or annual booster vaccinations. Under Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidelines, a veterinary surgeon must perform a health check at least annually before these vaccinations are given. This is an important requirement to ensure the ongoing health and safety of your pet.
With regard to monthly injections (such as Librela, Solensia, or Cytopoint), your vet may choose to refer you to me for administration. Please note that this decision is made at the discretion of your veterinary practice.
Thank you for your understanding. It is important that I work within the professional scope of an RVN at all times. 🐾

Harriet at Hooves & Hounds is trusted to look after both my small and large animals while I'm away. For the next few days she has 5 horses, 9 chickens, 4 cats and a tortoise to look after.
As a vet nurse, I'm very particular with who I let look after them but I can honestly say, I don't have any worries about going away as I know they will be in the best caring hands. Thanks Harriet 🙂
