🐴 Alice Peternell | Grand Prix Dressage Rider & Trainer

Alice has considerable experience as a dressage trainer having produced riders and horses from Novice to Grand Prix (Including the more ‘grass-root’ amateur level which they enjoy doing too). Alice's training background provides a huge pool of techniques from which to draw upon when discussing specific horse or rider technical problems. Alice and her team get real satisfaction and pleasure from pr

oducing combinations at all levels and offer training of riders and horses at their premises. They can also look after your horse while you are away on a short or long term basis so that training is not interrupted. Horses can be stabled at the livery yard for training livery and concentrated courses. We also offer private tuition at AP Equestrian for visiting clients (However they do not provide dressage schoolmasters and tuition can only be given on clients’ own horses). All levels are welcome - if it's your flatwork you want to polish up, we can help.

Hartpury Summer Regionals 🐴

A busy week at Hartpury Summer Regionals which didn’t quite go to plan, but plenty to build on for the future!

My own Noa Le (Bella) competed in the Novice Gold, and although there were a couple of costly mistakes, she also received some good marks and positive comments on the first day. On the second day in the Prelim Gold, she did a lovely test for 70%, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough in such a competitive class. ⭐️

Kate Pfistermuller’s Lucia A (Lucia) competed in the Medium and Advanced Medium Gold, and although she wasn’t as turbo-charged as she can be, I need to be able to get her neck out more for those higher marks. She’s only just returned to competing after a long break, so I’ll keep chipping away at improving this at home. She’s so capable, I just need to find the key to slowing her down!

My own Newton D (Newt) decided to go back to his old ways, trying to dump me in the warm-up both days (luckily he didn’t succeed!). In his first test, the Medium Gold, he got a bit tense and snorting, feeling well below his potential but still scored 69%, which made it even more frustrating! In the Elementary Gold, he came 6th with a score of 71%, despite one naughty moment in the test that was very obvious and expensive. Fingers crossed for a wildcard on that one! 🤞🏼

So all in all, not my best Regionals, but we’re all in one piece and there’s plenty to work on. Onwards and upwards for next time! 🤍

Handsome 16.3hh 9yr old Bay Gelding British Warmblood by Fransje (United) x Rueben Royal.
Evented as a 5/6yr old BE100 Competed pure dressage with current amateur owner from prel - elem.
He is working at med and shows promise for more.
He's fit, sound and healthy but has not competed since last year due to having some medical history that will be disclosed, and rider change of circumstances.
He's been back in full work for over 6 months and ready to get back out competing with a new rider.
He's a sweet horse, sensitive but not sharp and lovely to handle.

Great training session with Carl recently on a boiling hot day! ☀️

Worked on my pirouettes and changes with Vespa, and focused on straightness and lateral work with Newt. All in preparation for Hartpury Premier League this past week. 🐴

A couple of positive outings to Prestige last week!

Friday 🐴

Dillon felt happy to be back out, scoring a solid 70% in the Elementary. He’s still green at this level, so there were a few small mistakes, but I’m really pleased with how he went. 📷

Lucia had another run through Medium and Advanced Medium. We had some lovely high scoring movements, but we still need to work on slowing her down. She scored a pleasing 70%, and it’s exciting to know there’s so much more to come. 🤞🏼

Vespa had a run through PSG, finishing 2nd on 68%. Some expensive mistakes for silly things like cantering out of the first halt, but he felt really comfortable at the level, so overall I’m happy with him. ⭐️

Sunday 🐴

Dillon had another outing to Prestige and felt even more confident than on the Friday. He won the Elementary with a score of over 70%, and I’m really glad I made the decision to take him out again so soon! 🥇

Onwards and upwards! 🤍

A Good Day at The Office at Hunters Last Sunday! 🐴

First outing in a few months for my own Noa Le (Bella), and she felt much more balanced, scoring +72% in Novice. We just got pipped into 2nd place after a big spook when someone suddenly entered her line of sight! She’s a real pocket rocket, and I love riding her. 🤍

Kate Pfistermuller’s Vespasiano (Vespa) did a lovely test to win the Medium, after a last minute decision to qualify Medium for the Regionals. He’s such a special horse. ⭐️

Kate Pfistermuller’s Lucia A (Lucia) did a rather enthusiastic Medium test, I thought we might take flight in our medium trots! She calmed down and finished with 70% in the Advanced Medium, completing her qualifications for Regionals. She’s so hot but incredibly talented, just need to keep working on those calming thoughts! 💭

Dillon 🖤

Sarah Hodgson’s Bolero (Dillon) came to me just over a year ago, and on the first day I rode him, he tried to bronk me off! But I’m happy to say we’ve come a long way since then.

He started competing last spring, qualifying for Prelim and Novice Regionals, and even securing a spot at the National Championships, where he placed 8th at Prelim. 👏🏼

After a bit of a slow start this season due to a health setback, Dillon is now qualified for Novice and just a few points away from Elementary. He’s a hot horse to ride, full of enthusiasm, but he also loves his quiet moments - especially his naps every morning! 🖤

I’m incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful and supportive owner in Sarah, who has been with us every step of the way.

Working with horses like Dillon is such a rewarding experience. If you want your horse to reach its full potential and take the next step in their journey, get in touch today about our schooling livery options. ⭐️

A successful couple of outings last week! 🐴🤍

First up at Hunters on Wednesday, Helen Lomas’s Fourseasons Sienna (Sienna) scored 67% in her Medium test. I’m really pleased with her improvements since our last outing, though there’s still plenty of room to improve for even higher marks. ⭐️

I was really happy to have Kate Pfistermuller’s Lucia A (Lucia) back out competing after being sidelined last year due to injury. We’ve been quietly building her fitness at home, and she made a winning comeback, taking both a Medium and Advanced Medium class. 🥇

Exciting times with Kate Pfistermuller’s Vespasiano (Vespa) to have a go at his first PSG and clever boy scored an impressive 69%. There were a few green mistakes, but I’m thrilled with his mark knowing there’s so much more to come! 👏🏼

Lucia had a solo trip to Prestige on Friday to try and get qualifications for regionals (📷). She won the Medium and narrowly finished 2nd in the Advanced Medium, but on a higher score! Just need to get her back out for the last few marks before the end of the month. 🤍

Great progress from all the horses, looking forward to what’s next! 🐴

Chard regionals was such a well run show but absolutely freezing 🥶 Bella felt extremely hot on Fri and unfortunately made several mistakes in the Nov. By Sunday a bit more relaxed and came 6th in a strong Prel Gold despite a couple of mistakes. She has only been out a handful of times so actually coped really well and I feel she's exciting for the future. Sienna did 2 really consistent tests in elem gold freestyle and straight test coming 5th in both. Strong classes and her being a pony was tough but happy she was on side and got 68 and 69% . So proud of my pupils all being well placed and particularly Ellen Glover gaining 2 regional titles ! Thank you Lee for making them both look great and surviving the cold!

17hh black olderburg mare, 11yr old by Betall x Don Crusador. Millie is a lovely looking & sweet horse to handle and ride.
She has been in a non competitive home since she was a young horse and therefore has not been competed that much.
She has competed BD this year at Prel.
Can do lateral work - leg yield, shoulder-in & started half pass. She's forward going but not sharp.
Hacks easily off road around fields/tracks and comfortable with cars but nervous of lorries.
Sadly needs a new home due to owners illness.
