🔥🐾 BBQ Safety Reminder for Pet Owners 🐾🔥
With BBQ season in full swing and the sunshine finally here ☀️, we just wanted to share a few important reminders to help keep your pets safe during summer gatherings 💙🐶🐱🐰

🍔 BBQ foods can be dangerous for pets!
Please keep tempting treats well out of reach, especially:
🌽 Corn on the cob – a very common cause of dangerous blockages in dogs
🍗 Meat bones – can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries
🧅 Onions & garlic – toxic to pets
🍫 Chocolate desserts
🍺 Alcoholic drinks
🍢 Skewers & cocktail sticks

☀️ Heat can become dangerous very quickly
Make sure pets always have access to:
💧 Fresh water
🌳 Shade
❄️ Cool indoor spaces if needed

🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen even in temperatures that may not feel overly hot to us.

🎉 Don’t forget stress factors too!
BBQs can sometimes feel overwhelming for pets due to:
🔊 Loud noises and music
🚪 People constantly coming and going
🏃 Children running around
🐾 Doors and gates being left open, increasing escape risks

Some pets may prefer a quiet, calm room away from the excitement — and that’s absolutely okay 💙 Let’s make sure all members of the family stay safe this summer 🐾☀️✨

🐾✨ Move over, supermodels...Kenzo has arrived! ✨🐾
This handsome chap is Kenzo, a 6-year-old Akita x Chow Chow 🐶💙 and we need to talk about that hairdo... 😍

Honestly, someone give his groomer a pay rise ASAP because that coat is absolutely magnificent 👏✨

Kenzo recently came in for a blood test as part of his ongoing treatment 🩺💙 but somewhere along the way he seemed to forget he was at the vets and instead decided he was starring in his own fashion shoot 📸😆

Under the watchful eye of Nurse Sable, Kenzo quickly took to walking the catwalk and striking some of the most glamorous Vogue-worthy poses we've ever seen 🐾✨

📸 Blue Steel? Check.
📸 Smouldering stare? Check.
📸 Fabulous hair? Double check.
Safe to say Kenzo was an absolute superstar and left us all wondering if we've accidentally hired a canine influencer 💙🐶✨

10/10 for style.
10/10 for posing.

🥕🐾 June 17th – National Eat Your Veggies Day! 🐾🥦
Did you know some vegetables can make brilliant healthy treats for our pets too? 💙✨

🐶 Dogs can safely enjoy:
🥕 Carrots – great crunchy low-calorie snacks
🥒 Cucumber – refreshing in warm weather
🫛 Green beans – high in fibre and filling
🎃 Plain pumpkin – great for digestion and tummy health

🐰 Rabbits LOVE veggies!
🥬 Romaine lettuce
🌿 Fresh herbs like basil, parsley & coriander
🥦 Broccoli leaves
🥬 Spring greens
💡 Rabbits should still have unlimited hay as the main part of their diet, with veggies offered daily in moderation 🐰✨

🐱Cats are obligate carnivores, so veggies should only ever be an occasional treat alongside a balanced diet 💙 Cats may enjoy small amounts of:
🎃 Plain pumpkin
🥕 Cooked carrots
🥒 Cucumber

⚠️ Always introduce new foods slowly and in small amounts to avoid upset tummies 🩺🐾

🐾💙 This is Leo 💙🐾
Now, Leo should absolutely be the one stealing the spotlight in this photo because…well…just LOOK at him 😍🐱✨

However, we have to admit that the most interesting thing about this picture might actually be Nurse Becky’s earrings 👀😂

Why? Because they match Leo! 🐱💙

When we say Becky is our resident crazy cat lady, we really do mean it 😆🐾

At this point, we fully expect her to arrive at work each day wearing a different breed of cat dangling from her ears depending on which feline patients are booked in 😹✨

Maine C**n day? Giant fluffy earrings.
Sphynx day? Slightly wrinkly earrings.
Tabby day? You get the idea... 😂🐱

As for Leo, he was an absolute superstar ⭐ and very kindly modelled Becky’s latest fashion accessory inspiration 💙🐾

🐾 Role: Practice Manager
⏱️ Time served: 5 years

At home, Jules is currently on the hunt (with big open hearts 💕) for the right dog to join her family on long walks — watch this space! 🐶

When she’s not at work, Jules loves long, relaxing walks 🚶‍♀️, reading 📚, tackling jigsaw puzzles 🧩, and heading to the golf course ⛳. She’s also the dancing queen 💃 — if there’s a dance floor, you can guarantee Jules will be on it in her dancing shoes until the lights come on and she’s forced to go home!

🦎 Favourite animal fact:
Komodo dragons don’t walk — they glide, using skin flaps to move smoothly across the ground. Nature is wild! 😲

☀️🐾 Hot Weather Reminder! 🐾☀️
The sunshine is lovely, but for our pets it can quickly become a little too much 🌡️💙

As temperatures rise, please remember:
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh water
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade throughout the day
🚶 Walk dogs during the cooler mornings and evenings
🔥 Avoid hot pavements — if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for paws
🚗 Never leave pets in vehicles, even for a few minutes
🐰 Ensure rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small pets have cool, shaded areas and good ventilation

🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen at temperatures lower than many people realise. Flat-faced breeds, elderly pets, overweight pets, and very young pets can be particularly at risk.

Signs of heatstroke can include:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy or weakness
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Collapse

If you are concerned your pet may be suffering from heatstroke, contact a veterinary practice immediately 🩺💙

🐾🌻 Sweet little Kiki 🌻🐾
Kiki the tabby cat 🐱✨ was such a smooshy little baby when she came in for her spay procedure with Vet Charlotte! 🩺💙Honestly, we’re convinced she’s part cat… part sunflower 🌻🥹 because she just wanted to face everyone for attention and cuddles all day long 😄🐾

💡 We know not all pets enjoy wearing the traditional buster collar after surgery, and some can feel much more comfortable in alternative options 💙
✨ You’re always welcome to send your pet in with something you feel suits them better for recovery.
✨ We also sell post-operative pet suits at the practice, which many pets prefer as a softer, more comfortable alternative 🐶🐱

This adorable Sprocker puppy, Ronnie 🐶✨, came in for his first vaccinations today and wagged his tail THE WHOLE TIME! 🥹💙 Safe to say he completely charmed everyone he met 😄🐾

💉 Puppy vaccinations are such an important part of protecting young dogs against serious infectious diseases like:
🐶 Parvovirus
🐶 Distemper
🐶 Leptospirosis
🐶 Hepatitis

Puppies are especially vulnerable while their immune systems are still developing, which is why starting vaccinations at the correct age is so important 🩺💙
✨ Vaccinations also help safely prepare puppies for exploring the world, meeting other dogs, and starting all their exciting adventures 🐾🌍

Ronnie was an absolute superstar ⭐ and definitely earned all the fuss and cuddles from the team 🥰🐶

This handsome boy is Stanley the Border Terrier 🐶💙 who spent the day with us for a dental procedure with Vet Shelly 🩺✨
