With BBQ season in full swing and the sunshine finally here βοΈ, we just wanted to share a few important reminders to help keep your pets safe during summer gatherings ππΆπ±π°
π BBQ foods can be dangerous for pets!
Please keep tempting treats well out of reach, especially:
π½ Corn on the cob β a very common cause of dangerous blockages in dogs
π Meat bones β can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries
π§
Onions & garlic β toxic to pets
π« Chocolate desserts
πΊ Alcoholic drinks
π’ Skewers & cocktail sticks
βοΈ Heat can become dangerous very quickly
Make sure pets always have access to:
π§ Fresh water
π³ Shade
βοΈ Cool indoor spaces if needed
π¨ Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen even in temperatures that may not feel overly hot to us.
π Donβt forget stress factors too!
BBQs can sometimes feel overwhelming for pets due to:
π Loud noises and music
πͺ People constantly coming and going
π Children running around
πΎ Doors and gates being left open, increasing escape risks
Some pets may prefer a quiet, calm room away from the excitement β and thatβs absolutely okay π Letβs make sure all members of the family stay safe this summer πΎβοΈβ¨
