☀️💦 SUMMER ENRICHMENT SWIMS 💦☀️

When people hear "hydrotherapy," they often think of rehabilitation.
But for many dogs, a swim session can be so much more than that. 🐾

Hydro provides fantastic physical AND mental enrichment, making it a great activity for dogs who love to stay active, engaged, and challenged.

Why do dogs love enrichment swims?
🐶 A fun change from their usual routine
🧠 Mental stimulation from learning and problem-solving
💪 Full-body exercise without high-impact strain on joints
💦 A chance to burn energy in a safe, controlled environment
❤️ Confidence building through new experiences

For some dogs, it's all about fitness. For others, it's about having fun. And for many, it's a bit of both!

During the warmer months, hydro can be a brilliant way to keep dogs active when long walks aren't always practical due to the heat. Instead of missing out on exercise, they can enjoy a rewarding session that challenges both body and mind.

Let's be honest—some dogs simply think it's the best day ever. 😆🐾

Does your dog love the water, or are they more of a paws-on-dry-land kind of pup? Let us know below! 👇

🎉💦 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: WINS IN THE WATER 💦🎉

When people think of rehabilitation, they often picture the big milestones.
But here at Four Wet Paws, we know that some of the most important victories are the small ones. ❤️

🐾 Taking those first confident steps after surgery
🐾 Walking a little further without tiring
🐾 Standing more comfortably after rest
🐾 Building muscle that had been lost through injury
🐾 Finding confidence in the water for the very first time
🐾 Moving with a smoother, more balanced gait
🐾 Wagging tails where there used to be uncertainty

These moments might seem small to others, but to the dogs and families living through the journey, they're everything.

Every splash, every stride, every session is progress.
And that's what we celebrate. 💙

We're incredibly proud of every dog that walks through our doors—whether they're recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition, or simply working towards a happier, healthier life.

Because success isn't always measured in giant leaps.
Sometimes it's measured in one confident step forward. 🐶✨

👇 Tell us about a recent win your dog has had—big or small. We'd love to celebrate with you!

One of the hardest parts of what we do is saying goodbye. Over the years, we've been privileged to be part of so many dogs' journeys. We celebrate their progress, cheer on their victories, and get to know their wonderful personalities. Before we know it, they become part of the Four Wet Paws family.

At the start of the month, we lost a longstanding client, the lovely Sky. She wasn't just a client to us—like so many of the dogs who come through our doors, she became part of the Four Wet Paws family.

We're heartbroken for her family, but take comfort in imagining her reunited with her beloved sister Lilly, running free together once again. ❤️

Thank you, Sky, for every tail wag, every splash, and every smile you brought us. You will be deeply missed by all of us.

Sleep tight, sweet girl. 🌈🐾

👀🐾 IS YOUR DOG TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING? 🐾👀

Dogs are incredibly good at adapting to discomfort, which means the signs that they're struggling can often be subtle at first.

As owners, it's easy to put changes down to "just getting older"—but sometimes those little changes are worth paying attention to.

🚩 Signs your dog may benefit from hydrotherapy:
• Stiffness when getting up after resting
• Limping or favouring a leg
• Slowing down on walks
• Reluctance to jump into the car or onto furniture
• Struggling with stairs
• Reduced stamina or tiring more quickly than usual
• Changes in posture or movement
• Muscle loss following surgery or injury
• Difficulty keeping up with activities they once enjoyed

Hydrotherapy isn't just for post-operative recovery.

It can also help dogs maintain strength, improve mobility, support arthritic joints, build fitness, and stay active for longer. 💦💙

The earlier changes are identified, the sooner we can work towards supporting comfortable movement and maintaining quality of life.

🐶 You know your dog better than anyone.
If something doesn't seem quite right—even if you can't put your finger on it—it may be worth having a conversation with your vet or rehabilitation professional.

Sometimes the smallest signs can tell the biggest story.

📩 If you're unsure whether hydrotherapy could help your dog, we're always happy to answer questions.

🦴💦 THE POST-SURGERY REHAB JOURNEY 💦🦴

When a dog has orthopaedic surgery—whether that's a cruciate repair, fracture repair, or another joint procedure—the operation is only the beginning of the recovery journey.

What happens afterwards can make a huge difference to rebuilding strength, mobility, and confidence. 🐾

Hydrotherapy provides a controlled environment where recovery can progress safely and gradually.

💙 Early stages focus on gentle, supported movement
💙 As healing progresses, we work on rebuilding muscle strength
💙 Controlled exercise helps improve joint mobility and gait
💙 Water resistance allows muscles to work without excessive impact
💙 Confidence grows as dogs begin to trust their body again

One of the most important aspects of rehabilitation is progression.

Recovery isn't about doing more as quickly as possible—it's about doing the right amount at the right time. Every dog progresses differently, and rehabilitation plans should reflect that.

That's why sessions are carefully tailored to each individual dog, taking into account their surgery, stage of healing, veterinary recommendations, and how they're responding to treatment.

The goal isn't simply to recover.
The goal is to help your dog return to doing the things they love with strength, comfort, and confidence. 🐶❤️

If your dog is recovering from cruciate surgery or another orthopaedic procedure, we're happy to discuss how hydrotherapy may support their rehabilitation journey.

🐾💙 SENIOR DOGS & STRENGTH 💙🐾

Ageing doesn’t mean stopping. It means adapting. 🌿

As dogs get older, we often see changes like:
🐶 Stiffness after rest
🐶 Slower movement on walks
🐶 Reduced confidence on stairs or uneven ground
🐶 Arthritis or joint discomfort

But none of this means they have to give up movement altogether.

Hydrotherapy offers a way to keep senior dogs active in a gentle, supportive environment. 💦

In the water, their body is:
💙 Supported and weight-relieved
💙 Able to move more freely with less joint stress
💙 Strengthened through controlled resistance
💙 Encouraged to rebuild confidence in their movement

We often see something really special happen in senior sessions…
A dog that was hesitant on land suddenly finds freedom again in the water. 🐾

It’s not about pushing harder. It’s about moving smarter, safely, and with care.

Because every stage of life deserves strength, comfort, and joy in movement. 💙

If your older dog is slowing down, hydrotherapy may help them feel more like themselves again.

📩 Get in touch if you'd like advice on supporting your senior dog.

☀️🐾 SUMMER READY: SAFE MOVEMENT IN THE HEAT 🐾☀️

When temperatures rise, keeping dogs active safely becomes even more important—and more challenging.

Hot weather can make traditional exercise risky, especially for dogs who are:
🐶 Recovering from surgery
🐶 Living with arthritis or stiffness
🐶 Senior or lower fitness
🐶 Prone to overheating

That’s where hydrotherapy makes a real difference. 💦

In a controlled, temperature-regulated environment, dogs can:
💙 Exercise without overheating
💙 Build strength with low-impact movement
💙 Stay active even when outdoor walks are limited
💙 Maintain mobility safely during warmer months

Unlike land exercise, hydro removes the strain of heat stress while still allowing full-body conditioning and rehabilitation work. It’s consistent, safe, and tailored to each dog’s needs.

Summer doesn’t have to mean slowing down—it just means moving smarter. 🌿
If your dog struggles in the heat or needs gentle conditioning, hydrotherapy can be an ideal way to keep them active and comfortable all season long.

📩 Message us to find out if hydro is right for your dog this summer.

📸💦 SPLASH CAM FRIDAY 💦📸

We've learned one very important thing over the years...

🐶 Dogs do many things in hydrotherapy.

They build strength.
They improve mobility.
They gain confidence.
They smash their rehab goals.

But one thing they absolutely DON'T do...

😂 Subtle.

From surprise splashes and dramatic shake-offs to "accidentally" soaking the hydro team, every session comes with its own comedy moment.

This week's Splash Cam highlights feature:
💦 The enthusiastic cannonball
💦 The "I definitely didn't mean to splash you" face
💦 The post-swim shake that somehow reaches every corner of the room
💦 The happy paddler who treats every session like a pool party
We love celebrating the progress our dogs make, but we also love the moments that make us laugh along the way. ❤️
So tell us...

🐾💦 FIRST HYDRO SESSION? HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT! 💦🐾

Starting something new can feel a little daunting—for both dogs and their humans! ❤️

One of the questions we hear most often is:
❓ "What happens during the first hydrotherapy session?"

Here's a quick guide:
✅ We'll chat about your dog's medical history, lifestyle, and goals.
✅ We'll carry out an assessment to understand how your dog moves and identify any areas that need support.
✅ Your dog will be introduced to the hydrotherapy environment at their own pace—there's no rushing here!
✅ Lots of praise, encouragement, and treats help build confidence and create positive associations.
✅ Every session is tailored to your dog's individual needs, whether they're recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, building strength, or improving fitness.

The first session is all about getting to know your dog and helping them feel safe, comfortable, and confident. Some dogs jump straight in, while others need a little extra time—and that's perfectly okay. 🐶💙

Our goal is to make hydrotherapy a positive experience from day one.
