Great post to read!
I have made the decision to cancel all walks tomorrow. All clients have been contacted and drop ins for a play, train and wee break will be offered instead, meaning I can't quite get to everyone at a desired time.
Walking dogs is such a hard job, there are so many things we have to think about minute by minute and with the added risk of over heating I'd rather not take any chances with your beloved pups!
Thank you to all of my clients for understanding - will be in touch regarding Friday! π«Ά
With temperatures set to rise again today, we are urging anyone with a dog in their life to keep them safe. Whilst some dogs may cope with the heat, many don't. Don't take that risk and learn the hard way that your dog doesn't.
Those at increased risk should take particular care, which includes:
- elderly dogs, especially those with an underlying medical condition
- young dogs
- flat-faced breeds,
- overweight or unfit animals,
- large breeds,
- thick coated breeds,
Research from the Royal Veterinary College indicates that more dogs present for veterinary care due to heat-related illness after exercise than those left in hot cars.
