Please join us in congratulating our very own Kara, who has been awarded Student of the Year for the Animal Management Course at Askham Bryan College, Wakefield! 🎉🎓🐾

Anyone who knows Kara will know just how hard she works. From balancing college studies with life in the salon, to constantly pushing herself to learn, improve and give every dog the very best care possible, this award is so incredibly well deserved.

We have watched Kara grow in confidence, skill and knowledge over the last few years, and we couldn’t be prouder of the young professional she is becoming. To receive recognition like this from her tutors and college is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of her dedication to animal welfare.

Yesterday, our hearts were heavy as we said goodbye to a very special old gentleman, Chewy. 🌈🐾

Chewy’s body was telling him it was time to rest, and with incredible love and courage, his dad Aaron made the selfless decision to help him peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge. It is one of the hardest acts of love we can ever give our dogs, putting their needs before our own heartbreak.

The bond between a dog and their human is something truly extraordinary. They walk beside us through life’s chapters, sharing our happiest moments, comforting us through our darkest days, and leaving pawprints on our hearts that time can never erase. Their lives may only be a chapter of ours, but to them, we are their whole story.

If you’ve been with us long enough, you’ll remember Aaron from his time working with us. Today, we ask that you keep him in your thoughts and send him lots of love and support as he navigates life without his faithful companion by his side.

Run free, Chewy. No more aches, no more tired old bones. Just endless sunshine, soft grass beneath your paws, and all the treats your heart desires. Until we meet again. ❤️🐾🌈

🌞 HOLIDAY MODE… SORT OF! 🌞

We are officially on holiday this week and taking a little time to recharge before another busy few months in the salon. 🐾

Next Monday I’ll be starting to message all of our Saturday clients regarding pre-booking their 2027 appointments. Yes, I know… it’s around two months earlier than I normally start! 😅 But this year I’m determined to be a little more organised as there are a few exciting projects on the horizon that will need some of my attention.

Don’t worry, all will be revealed when the time is right… 🤫✨

I will still be checking messages and doing a little admin for a couple of hours each morning throughout the week. However, next weekend I’ll be away celebrating Summer Solstice, so I won’t be reachable from then until we’re back to work on Tuesday.

Thank you all for your patience while we take a little break. We genuinely appreciate every single one of you and your wonderful dogs. ❤️🐾

Today we’re celebrating one of our own… our wonderful Fallon! 💖

From bathing and prepping to styling, cuddling puppies, tackling giant fluff monsters and keeping us all laughing along the way, Fallon is a huge part of The Big Paws Little Paws Co family. 🐾

Her dedication to the dogs, her patience, kindness and ability to put up with Dani (and Kara) on a daily basis deserves some sort of medal really… 🤣🏅

So, thanks to Facebook’s little update yesterday, our scheduled post decided it was taking a holiday before we did… 🙈😂

The salon is now officially CLOSED until Tuesday 23rd June while we take a well-earned break!

This time we’re not heading off on any grand adventures. Instead, it’s time for all those grown-up jobs we’ve been expertly avoiding… paperwork, sorting, organising, and all the other exciting things that somehow never make it to the top of the list. 🤣

Tell us we’re not the only ones… does anyone else spend their “holidays” playing catch-up on life admin? 👀

Whatever you’re up to this week, we hope you have a fantastic one and we’ll see all our wonderful clients and their four-legged sidekicks when we’re back on the 23rd! 🐾❤️

👻 Sorry we ghosted you yesterday! 👻

It was just one of those days where the clock seemed to have its own agenda and before we knew it, the day had completely run away with us! 😅

Anyway… enough about us. We want you to meet this absolutely stunning girl… Nessie! 😍😍😍

Nessie is a beautiful Italian Mastiff and what a pleasure she was to have in the salon.

Completely natural in her own right, with none of this barbaric ear chopping in sight, just a gorgeous soft princess with the sweetest nature to match. 🩷

She was an absolute dream from start to finish and we adored every minute of spending time with her. It’s dogs like Nessie that remind us just how amazing these giant breeds really are. 🥰

And just like that… Tuesday is done! ✨🐾

What a day it has been!
So many beautiful dogs through the salon doors, all leaving fresh, fluffy and smelling amazing… for at least 24 hours if their guardians are lucky! 🤣

Tomorrow is a slightly quieter day for Dani & Fallon before we’re back at it again for another 8am-8pm marathon on Thursday. 💪🐶

A special mention has to go to our Fish, who visited us this morning.
Affectionately nicknamed “Gob 💩” by Dani (and there really isn’t much left to the imagination as to why he earned that title 🤣), Fish has been coming to us for almost 9 years now.

When you’ve groomed a dog for that long, they become much more than a client.
Fish is very much part of the fixtures and fittings around here and has built a truly special bond with Dani over the years. 🥰

It’s one of the things we love most about what we do.
Watching puppies grow up, seeing senior dogs through their golden years, and becoming part of their journey along the way. ❤️

🐾 The Strange Things Groomers Find! 🐾

Toto came for his very first groom with us this morning and what an absolute angel he was from start to finish! ❤️

As part of every groom, we carry out a full health and welfare check, including checking paws, nails, skin, coat, ears and anything else that may need monitoring. During Toto’s paw check, Dani spotted something a little unusual…

At some point, Toto appears to have fractured one of his nails and somehow a piece of cotton or fabric had become embedded into the damaged nail and had effectively fused into it! 😳

Toto did need a nail trim today and the nail was carefully shortened. However, Dani intentionally left it longer than she normally would and avoided trimming back to the fracture line. While we could have filed it back further with the Dremel, there were simply too many unknowns. We don’t know how old the fracture is, where the quick sits within that nail, and with Toto having black nails it makes it even more difficult to safely assess. As this was also his very first visit with us, we weren’t prepared to take any risks that could cause discomfort, bleeding, or leave him with a negative grooming experience.

This was fully discussed with Toto’s guardian, who has been advised to keep a close eye on the nail and seek advice from their veterinarian should there be any concerns.

It’s a great reminder of why regular nail checks are so important. Nail problems can often go unnoticed until they become painful or problematic. Regular grooming appointments allow us to spot these little issues early and help keep your dogs comfortable, mobile and happy. 🐾

🌞 Good Morning from The Big Paws Little Paws Co! 🐾

It’s Tuesday, the salon doors are open, the baths are running, and the team are in from 8am until 8pm today with a very busy day ahead of us! ✂️🛁🐶

We are running at full steam this week as we count down to Friday when we officially close for a whole week for our holiday! 🎉

Yes… another holiday. We know, we know… who knew dog groomers were actually entitled to their holiday allowance too?! 🤣

The dogs are booked in, the shampoo is stocked, the dryers are ready, and we’re set for another fantastic week helping our furry friends look and feel their best.

A huge thank you to every one of you who trusts us with your dogs and keeps our diary so wonderfully full. We genuinely appreciate every booking, recommendation, like, comment and share. ❤️
