Invitation to meet me and Kas 😊

I’m having an open afternoon on Saturday 29th from 2-4pm.

You’re invited to come to the garden and see the hogspital, chat with me and meet Kas, my trusted volunteer, who runs The Hog Haven on the other side of town.

There’ll be hot and cold drinks, cake and biscuits and hopefully a hog to meet.

Please DM for the address, and I politely ask you not to share it publicly as it’s only my garden and I do have to consider my neighbours 🤣

It’s been a pleasure supporting this little girl who was stuck in a roadside drainage gutter one afternoon.

Little Henry here is one of 9 patients at the hogspital, and as they’re all growing babies I’m rapidly running out of supplies.

So, the time has come for me to ask you good people out there to have a browse of my Amazon Wish List and see what you can rustle up for Henry, Burrito, La La, Queenie, Tuppence, Winston, Clementine, John Jack and Wee Bill ☺️

What a wally!

I have an ‘I’m full’ message as my auto response to Messenger at the moment because I am still officially over capacity, but Henry here came at the very moment I released one…

That’s sometimes how it goes, so it’s always worth asking me, even if you do see the auto responder…

The problem is, this FLIPPING DROUGHT! Mums are putting their runts out of the nest because they’re struggling to feed themselves, let alone make enough milk to feed a demanding litter.

That means my current residents are simply eating and drinking and getting ready to go out on their own. It’s unusual, most HH rescues are seeing the same UK-wide.

We call them bed hogs, because they’re taking up space that others need for real nursing care. But I haven’t had any real nursing cases for ages, so I’m happy to have these NINE babies growing under my watchful eye 🥰

A serious case should go to the vet first. But I will always try to make room for a poorly one.

And before you lovely people offer to foster, it’s hard for me to keep track of who’s got who and who can be out in foster, so I’m pleased to be working very closely with Kas at The Hog Haven, who has now trained, and helps me no end 🙏🏻

The best help you can offer now, is to purchase some items from my Amazon Wish List, which will go to me and Kas to raise these helpless babies.

Little Dot, all grown up and back home 🥰

Her finder Eileen has brought back to her garden where she was found, and she’s already been adopted by the current residents.

A very happy ending 😊

Lucy!! This little one is gaining her freedom after the weekend, assuming hasn’t made her escape beforehand 😂

Lucy is in foster care for fattening up, and gets put into a run while her hutch is cleaned out. And this is her favourite pastime whilst there 🤦🏽‍♀️

Hedgehogs are actually very good climbers - I’ve even seen one in my own garden many years ago, climbing a fence! But, a hole at the bottom is much safer…
