💥Bonfire Night - Firework safety💥
It's that time of year again folks!! I know, we can't believe how quickly this year has flown in either!!
Bonfire night is an exciting time of year for us all to look forward to but sadly it is something that can have a detrimental impact on both our pets and wildlife.
We've put together a few points on how to keep your pets as safe and relaxed as possible when fireworks are being let off this Bonfire Night.
1. Draw curtains to keep bright lights out and reduce impact of flashes
2. Keep the radio or TV on to mask the bangs. Keep the radio on when out of the house.
3. Cover hutches or bring indoors. Give extra bedding to allow them to burrow.
4. Keep water bowls topped up as pets are more likely to get thirsty from panting.
5. Avoid letting your pet outside when fireworks are going off nearby.
6. Keep doors and windows shut. Block cat flaps and make sure your garden is secure.
7. Check your pet’s microchip is up to date in the unlikely event of them running away.
8. Provide safe hiding places in your home. Cover with blankets and extra bedding.
9. Offer your dog their favourite toy or chew to help distract them.
10. Avoid walking dogs at night when fireworks are more likely and if this cannot be avoided ensure that they are kept on the lead at all times.
We know that a lot of animals struggle at this time of year and hope that these points can help reduce stress. If your pet gets very anxious during this time and you find that you might need a helping hand then please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss either over the counter or prescribes medication that can help.
Above all, have a wonderful and safe Bonfire Night😁🐾
