With the scorching weather we’re having at the moment, it’s really important to keep a close eye on enclosure temperatures ☀️

Room temperatures can rise quickly during hot spells, which means your enclosure may already be reaching (or exceeding) the temperatures your species needs without additional heating.

Make sure you’re checking both warm and cool ends regularly, and don’t be afraid to turn heating equipment off if temperatures are getting too high!

Remember that UVB and other lighting can also give off a surprising amount of heat, especially in smaller enclosures, so these may need to be turned off too if temperatures are climbing too high 🥵

If you pop in over the next few days and notice some of our enclosures looking a little darker than usual, don’t worry! We’re following our own advice and making sure all of our animals are staying at safe, appropriate temperatures too 🌡️

Every species has different requirements, so keeping conditions stable is key to keeping your animals safe and comfortable during the heat 🐍 🦎 🐢
