Our July Google Review Winner is... Tracy Riley! 🎉

🐾 Tracy says: "I've been bringing Molly since she was a pup and she's been looked after so well, particularly during her 2 surgeries. It's like taking her to a family friend rather than a vet surgery. Molly loves visiting all the staff and they love her too."

💖 Thank you for your lovely review, Tracy – a £20 Amazon voucher is winging its way to you! 🎁

🐾 Moose’s behaviour update! 🐾

Our RVN & Pet Behaviourist Rachel Green first met Moose back June for a behaviour consultation. His owners were concerned about how he was reacting around other dogs, so they brought along his best pal Hank (the gorgeous Mountain Dog!) for some moral support. 🤍

We spent some time outside for an assessment and to work on some foundation walking skills, but Moose was clearly having a tough day. He was quite stressed and struggling to focus. He couldn’t even be tempted by some tasty Kong paste! 😟

After discussing Moose’s anxiety with one of our Vets, we agreed to start Moose on some medication to help open the window for learning. 💊

A month later, Moose came back for a follow up - and what a difference! Rachel could hardly believe she was seeing the same dog. He was focused and ready to learn, walking beautifully on the lead, and responding to his name. Rachel & Moose had a really good training session, focusing on counter conditioning, as Moose was eating happily and engaging with his owner. 🫶

There’s still work to do in helping Moose relax around other dogs through desensitisation and counter conditioning. However, he’s well and truly on the path to success and we’re sure with how much effort Moose’s owners have been putting into his learning, this improvement will continue! 🙌

If your pet could benefit from Rachel’s help, please don’t hesitate to contact the surgery! Rachel offers behaviour consultations across The Pet Vet’s 12 surgeries – either online, or in person at Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Lincoln and Nottingham. https://www.thepetvet.co.uk/contact-us

Meet Dr Victoria McDonald MRCVS - our Head Vet at The Pet Vet Morden! ✨ Let's get to know her a bit better with a mini Q&A...🎤👇

🐾 What made you want to be a Vet?

"I grew up competitively showjumping my horses in Canada and have wanted to work with animals for as long as I can remember. Originally I actually wanted to be an equine vet due to my background, but I fell in love with small aninmal medicine - not just with the variety of cases and the pace of practice, but also with the lifestyle and community that comes with working in small animal care. I'm very much a city girl at heart, and small animal medicine has allowed me to build a fulfilling career while living in vibrant urban environments, surrounded by like-minded professionals and customers who view their pets as family."

🐾 Do you have any pets?

"I don’t currently have any pets, but I’m hoping to welcome a new furry family member into my home in the next few months!"

🐾 What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

"I’m passionate about travel and love discovering new places—this summer alone, I’ve explored all over Italy and France, and will be flying back home to spend time with my family. My mornings usually start with reformer Pilates or hunting down a cute new matcha spot! I also enjoy reading, cooking, and carving out time to meditate."

Our Head of Operations & Area Manager Becky Goodall's sponsored hike for Support Dogs is underway! 🎉 Here's a snap of her just before setting off! Becky is doing her 25.3 mile hike between The Pet Vet Waltham Forest and The Pet Vet Morden solo, as her walking partner & our CEO Mel Fuller has unfortunately injured her back. Never one to shy away from a challenge or want to let anyone down, Mel has set a date of Thursday 28 August to complete the walk in reverse, starting at The Pet Vet Morden and hiking her way to The Pet Vet Waltham Forest.

If you'd like to sponsor Mel & Becky and put an extra spring in their step while also supporting an incredible charity, you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/melandbeckywalk?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL&utm_campaign=015

Tomorrow is the day of Mel & Becky's sponsored 25.3 mile walk from The Pet Vet Waltham Forest to The Pet Vet Morden! However, with much regret, Mel is unable to participate due to a very recent, painful back injury 😞. So Becky will be completing the hike solo! 🚶 Never one to shy away from a challenge or want to let anyone down, Mel has set a date of Thursday 28 August to complete the walk in reverse, starting at The Pet Vet Morden and walking to The Pet Vet Waltham Forest.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored them so far. Mel & Becky are both so grateful! 🫶

Anyone still wishing to sponsor them can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/melandbeckywalk?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Only 2 days to go until our CEO Mel & Head of Ops and Area Manager Becky are hiking the 25.3 miles between The Pet Vet Waltham Forest and The Pet Vet Morden! This is all in aid of Support Dogs - our amazing charity of the year! 🐕‍🦺💙

It's not too late to sponsor them. Any donations will be so gratefully received and go towards helping Support Dogs fulfil their mission mission: to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities and challenging medical conditions by providing them with highly trained assistance dogs, specifically for autism, epilepsy, and physical disabilities.
